Control board, freon or compressor. If compressor runs(hard wire to get to run without control board) The control is turned all the way up for the freezer,I assume. If you know how to hook up gauges check the freon, you probably know some one in the Hvac industry that does. and finally find the control board and check and see if you can find a relay on the board (looks like a cube) tap it and see if you can get it to work. Also could be the thermostat ,put it in your hand and see if relay kicks on ,if relay works then i would suspect freon

Sounds like your control switch is going bad. Good thing you have the quick freeze button. You may want to go ahead and replace it. The whole thing will go out soon. This is something you can replace yourself.

Why do they sell both freeze-dried and dehydrated foods?

The sell those both because they each got there won benefits. Freeze-dried foods rehydrate quicker and dehydrated foods condense further allowing you to store them in less space.

I have a deep freezer, the light is on but doesn't freeze. It's only 2 yrs old what could be the problem?I unpluged it and waited 10 mins pluged back in and nothing the red light stayed on but...

Well a freezer is easy to repair. The circuit goes from one side of the power cord to the cold control and down to the compressor then out to the other side of the power cord. Id the control or compressor relay is open then she won't freeze. All the parts to it are listed HERE.
From the list I see an overload for the compressor. If that one is open it won't freeze. Bypass the temp control wires to see if she runs.

Bottom freezes over, top won't cool. No circulation of air to top. Freezer freezing over.

This seems to be a refrigerator problem. The circulation fan in the freezer may not be working. Check the fan.
