What is the card type you have if it is an sdhc card your laptops card reader may not reconise it as the hich capacity cards are quiet new and will not work in a normal sd card reader. i woud try plugging the camera int the usba nd downloading that way

firstly i owuld try to re format the camera and card. you can format the camera by pressing menu then scrolling across to the setup icon a small suitcase go to the second icon down and scroll across to the menu till format is highlighted then press ok this will formatt the internall memory. you can reformat your memprey card by inserting it into the card reader and clicking on my computer, locate the drive that your card is in and right click on that drive. it will bring up a drop down menu and you should select formatt and follow the on screen instructons.

this may solve your problem if not just let me know you may need to reset the unit.

Unable to take pics. Old pics available, but can't get new ones. Unintelligible blurs on screen. Going through resetting default procedure leads to "Busy".

It seems Canon A95 camera got ccd imager chip problem that is why you do not get live view in camera mode to take fresh pictures but camera shows old pictures in playback mode.
Let me know if this diagnosis is correct to proceed further.

Somehow our pics got deleted from our memory card...PLEASE tell me there is a way we can retrieve them! We do not know how it happened! We were trying to download the pics and just plugged in the cord and...

Take no more pics until you've recovered your photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that may help you recover your photos. This article reviews and outlines several of the better ones:

Problem with SD card, Canon Ixus 100 IS

Could be the camera isn't seeing/reading the card properly.

I'd check the contacts on the card, and in the camera are clean, free of grease & dust.

Rather than do anything drastic, Have a look at the Canon website and or contact them, Details below.

Camera will not hold new pics. Even when internal

Could be the memory chip isn't working right. They are very sensitive to improper handling. I prefer to use the usb download cable rather than removing the card and inserting it into the computer. If you touch the gold contact fingers on the card, static electricity can damage it, personal experience. Some replacement chips have a lifetime guarantee, which I have used.
Try a new mem card, they are sort of cheap.
Also if you use the program that came with the camera, it might reset the functions on the chip.
Hope this helps.

Memory card

There is a little slide switch on the side of the SD card that will lock it.  It could be that it got bumped the last time it was inserted, or the memory card could be defective.  I saw this happen with a SanDisk memory card that hadn't been removed from the camera.  Removing the card and sliding the lock switch back and forth, then re-inserting finally solved the problem.  It was a bit disconcerting when it happened.  I would recommend that you get a replacement memory card to use if it starts to happen repeatedly.

Chip says full after few pics

The chip may not be inserted correctly. You can tell by seeing or not seeing SD symbol in the view screen. Try removing the SD card. Go through the memory and see if the pictures were saved to the camera or to the card. If the pictures were saved to the camera, turn off the camera and re-insert the card. See if the cards responds by showing more pictures available for taking and move the pictures to the card. If the pictures were saved to the card, then the card may need to replaced.

My sp310 will not take pics / 2.5inch screen will not show pics to be taken

If you are able to review previous images but are unable to see or take new images - sounds as if it is a problem with the image processing chip inside the camera (not your memory chip). If that is the case you will need to call Olympus to discuss repair process and cost of repair. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3

Try removing the memory card and inserting it again.
Also, does the computer detect the camera properly?
