Hello -

Sorry for the delay in replying to you, but there has been a technical fault at FixYa and we have not been able to answer your question. I've uploaded the instructions for setting the clock and using the timer features to Rapidshare for you to download:

http://rapidshare.com/files/456163521/Stoves_Timer.pdf

Download instructions:

1. Click on the link above. The Rapidshare download page will open in a new browser window
2. Scroll to the bottom right corner of the download page and click "Slow Download"
3. Wait for the timer to count down to zero (usually about 30-60 seconds)
4. Click on "Download Now!"
5. Save the file (Stoves_Timer.pdf) to your PC.
Once you've set the clock and made sure the timer isn't active, operating the oven is no different to operating any other oven - select the function you wish to use and set the temperature using the control dials.

Unfortunately, the user manual for this oven is not available for free download, but one can be obtained from Stoves spares and accessories store by calling (UK) 0844 8153745. The manuals cost about £5 including postage.

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to me by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question.

Regards,
BElectric

It could be that the clock is on the way out, or the buttons that control the clock have dirty contacts. espares can get you a new clock/timer. What you can do is with the oven switched off, rapidly press all the clock buttons one at a time to try and remove the dirt. Switch the oven back on and see what happens. If you need a handbook, post an email address and I will send you a pdf copy.
I have answered other posts in this section on how to use the timer, so check there if you don't have the information.

If the oven is on automatic, a small 'A' will appear in the clock window. To remove this press the second and third buttons from the left simultaneously.

Having taken the oven out to fix a problem with the hob (720EF double oven and grill), reinstalled the oven and powered –up, the clock won’t come on and stay on, the oven and hob appear to work! Any...

Both the top and bottom oven will only work if a time (any time) has been set on the clock. Setting the time operates a contact to switch the power through. The only exception is the grill. This will work even if the time has not been set. So if the oven controls/lights and heating work, to me it means that the clock/timer is half working and the only thing that isn't is the display.
I haven't had the clock/timer to bits but a fellow blogger has said that in some timers there is an electrolytic capacitor that controls the display. When this fails as they are renowned for doing, the dispaly mal functions. If there is one then Maplin have some - VHR41W/43W and DT64U depending on value etc. Let us know how you get on.
If you need a new clock/timer they are around £80 from espares.

I have a Stoves double oven and after a power cut the clock has stopped working and the main oven is not working either. the clock is completely off. the small top oven is still working though. what can...

The clock controls the ovens. In other words, directly you set any time on the clock, a contact operates within it to provide power to the ovens. (Normally the grill remains operational). You may need a new clock/timer. Before you do so, try switching the power off at the main isolating switch and leaving it off for a few mins, then switching it back on, to try to get the clock to operate. You may need to do this a few times.
Normally Stoves stick a label identifying the model on the left hand edge of the lower oven. You see this when you lower the main oven door. it will probably start with a 05 and be 9 digits long. With this number you can identify the oven and obtain parts.

A (automatic cooking)remains in the digital reader which means that the electric oven/grill and fan oven won't work. It will not clear from the box.

What happens when you turn the power off to the whole oven, leave it off for a few mins and then reapply? If the automatic is still set it could be the clock is faulty.
Have you tried resetting the clock as per the handbook?
