How do I adjust the nail depth on a Bostich RN45B roofing nailer. I believe it must be an older model. It has no dial for adjustment. Seems to me the only way is to change air pressure. I am driving 1-1/4" long nails. I have the spool inside the coil housing set for the right length nail.

SOURCE: I have a RN45B roof

The adjustment is inside the magazine there are 3 setting depending on the length of nail. Here is a PDF of the owners manual for that tool, the procedure to set the depth is on page 6. http://www.bostitch.com/catalog_images/web_pdf/103280.pdf
If after setting the depth you are still having issues you can adjust the pressure on your compressor. The operating pressure for that unit is 70 - 100 psi. Do not exceed 100 psi and remember to disconnect your hose before loading/unloading or making adjustments to your nailer.

Bostitch rn45b wount drive the nails in all the way in and I don't see any adjustment like on my rn46

The bostitch nailer rn45 has an adjuster for depth on the front. Rotate the black knob for proper depth. If adjuster does not have an effect, most likely the driver oring is worn. Ez check for worn driver oring. Open side door and remove nails. Point nose of gun up then down again. If the driver moves up and down, replace the oring. The driver should stay in the upper position at all times. Good luck.

Bostich RN-46 seems to be over sinking the nails even went set to low depth

Adjust the air pressure on the regulator to about 90 lbs. or lower. maybe higher than 90 but that should help you set the depth.

How do i control the depth the nail shoots in a bostitch coil nailer

The bostitch nailer pictured along along with your question is a RN46 roofing coil nailer. It has a dial on the front of the nose for adjusting depth. Some older nailers (roofing nailers) do no have a means of adjusting so were set at the factory for best performance. The question of depth usually comes up when lower bumper fails and the nail is driven too deep. Easy test. Remove nails and find a very soft piece of wood. Dry fire the gun against soft wood and measure how deep the driver is entering the wood. Harder test. Remove the head and use any handy tool to push driver down to bottom. Measure how far the driver extends past nose (should be about 1/8 to 3/16). If more, replace the lower bumper. Good luck

How do I adjust the depth of the brad nail on the porter cable BN 125A brad nailer

Hello. To adjust the depth of the nail you have to increase or decrease the air pressure from the compressor. Look at the compressor and you will see a knob or dial that you can turn to increase or decrease the air pressure. Do this adjustment in small increments testing the nailer by driving nails into a scrap of the same material you will be driving the nails into on the actual job. Increasing the pressure will drive the nail deeper and decreasing the pressure will drive the nail less deep. Joe

How do i set the depth

I have a older Hitachi 3 1/2 full roundhead nailer and on my there is a button on the front below the head at the end of the nails that you push sideways and hold and slide the nail gun tip up or down. There should be grooves across the front of the tip.
