Thanks for visiting FixYa!

Without the specific make and model number of your phone I'm unable to provide you with the exact instructions to register your handset.

However, most handsets can be easily registered by turning them on and placing them on the base for one (1) minute.

If this doesn't work, please re-post this question and include your exact phone make and model number.

Bought new battery, charged it and it wont register or connect says to place on base to registar.

The handset must be placed into the BASE cradle.
(the BASE has the telephone wire from the wall
plugged into it as well as the power supply wire)

The remote charging dock has only the power supply
wire plugged in and it cannot do the registration.

Good luck!

VTech CS6409 register handset fails with no message

From what I read it seems you are trying to register and add a new handset to your system. I am also assuming that the handset is de-registered.

A common problem with registering a handset to this system is Owners Press and Hold the # sign before releasing it. This button is to Press and IMMEDIATELY release. DO NOT HOLD. If this does not solve your problem then

With a charged battery in the handset, the display should read "1.PRESS FIND HS ON BASE 4 SEC and 2.THEN PRESS # ON HANDSET" if it say so, then when you press and "IMMEDIATELY RELEASE " the # sign on the handset the information should change If the screen goes blank when you do so and return to "1.PRESS FIND HS ON BASE 4 SEC and 2.THEN PRESS # ON HANDSET" then you will have a bad battery or your base memory is full.
Replace the battery and try again. If no change then

The best way to go is to clear the system and re-register all the handsets. Begin by removing any handset from the main base cradle. Then
Press and hold /FIND HANDSET on the Main base until the IN USE light turns on and starts to flash. then release it, then without pause Press and Release it again. That will clear the system and de-register all your handsets.
All handsets will show 1.PRESS FIND HS ON BASE 4 SEC and 2.THEN PRESS # ON HANDSET. To re-register follow this instruction

I've had this cordless phone with 7 handsets for many years. Recently most of the phones have been disconnecting mid call and the screen reads "no link to base." Is it possible that many of the phones...

it is likely they need new batteries. but first place each handset in the base (not the standalone charger) and wait for the battery light to flicker. try the phone then. if you do change the batteries in any of the handsets you will need to repeat doing that procedure of placing the handset in the base.

Panasonic Phone KX-TG6700B base unit Problem

FROM PAGE 38 of the manual:

If "No link to base. Move closer to base, try again" is displayed, even when using the handset near the base unit, the handset may have lost communication with the base unit. You need to re-register the handset to the base unit..
HAVE BOTH THE HANDSET AND THE BASE UNIT NEARBY DURING REGISTRATION.
FOLLOW STEPS 1 AND 2 LISTED BELOW. YOU HAVE ABOUT 1 MINUTE TO COMPLETE THEM.

1-Base unit:
Press and hold [HANDSET LOCATOR] until the CHARGE indicator flashes.
2-Handset:
Press and hold [FLASH/CALL WAIT] until "Handset Registering" is displayed.
-When registration is complete, a beep sounds from the handset.
-Wait for 20 seconds after registration is complete while the handset establishes communication with the base unit.

If... the handset beeps three times and "ERROR!" is displayed, an error occurred. Try again from step 1.
You can stop registration by pressing [OFF] on the handset, and pressing [HANDSET LOCATOR] on the base unit.

Phone rings, but once answered its not possible to hear a voice.

Similar issue - brand new phone - but incoming calls (skype or landline) would ring - and then nothing, and outgoing calls the handset would just reset.

The handset would just lose signal constantly (less than 2 meters from the base station).

The phone shipped with the latest software - but eventually I reinstalled it - no change, then de-registered the handset, powered everything down and re-registered the handset and that *seems* to have done it .....

So
1 - reflash / re-install latest software from philips website (even if the phone already has the same version)
2 - de-register handset (follow instructions)
3 - unplug base station and remove batteries from handset
4 - turn on base station, put batteries in handset
5 - re register handset (follow instructions in manual)

and that seems to do it.
