You can hear the heat trying to kick on but only blows cold air. If I slap the side of the unit - the heat comes on and heats the room to the temperature on the thermostat and shuts off. When the unit...

Sounds like you have a heat pump with either a stuck reversing valve or a loose wire going to the reversing valve solenoid. Open it up and take a look. Keep slapping it and you'll break something!

I can hear the air compressor come on but doesn't blow cold

If it is blowing air and the compressor is running you are low on freon more than likely. make sure the fan on the unit is also running it helps it get rid of heat on the external coils. if all fans are running and the compressor is running it is low on freon.

AC/heat doesn't come out front vents. Can hear

try a vaccum leak under the hood. Look and listen for any little sounds of air blowing out. Also the door switch may not be turning to vent it may be stuck on one side, like defrost!

Gas Furnace is not heating anymore.

the fan you hear come on at a call for heat is most likely just the inducer motor. the click you hear is probably the relay for the hot surface ignitor which should glow red, then in turn ignite the main burners. your going to have to determine if the ignitor is coming on. if it isnt the ignitor is bad and will need to be replaced. if it comes on and than shuts off after a few seconds the ifc board is probably at fault
