Shut down system by using poer button on tower then unplug tower. Turn power back on and boot in "safe mode with networking". When screen comes up, click on "start", then "control panel". Find and click on "device manager", open and click on continue. Click on box(on right) of "display adaptors". Do you see a warning, ?, !, or yellow triangle? If so click on that and follow proceedure. Right click on your device and in the list you should see "disable". If you see "enable" click on that and exit. Right click on your device again and click on properties. You should see "this device is working properly". If you are using on board graphics, not a graphics card, click on "drivers" tab. Then click on "automatically search for updates...". When finished, restart your system. If you have a graphics card you should update with manufacturer. Let me know make and model of card if you have one. If you are getting beep codes it could be your ram.

If it is possible, you need to try the computer with a second monitor. There should be a connection on the back for one. It sounds like the video or screen just quit. If a second monitor works by plugging into the back then most likely the screen has quit working. Also, check the dell support web site for warranty information.

What tower? Didn't the gentleman indicate that this is an all-in-one?

  • grambo52 Apr 05, 2011

    Sorry ... wrong response.

This is not a tower ...

Yes, I know it is not a tower. I looked it up before I posted my suggestion. There is a connection on the back of the all-in-one that you can plug in an external monitor. If you can try the external monitor then you are one step closer to knowing the solution. With an all-in-one the video card is actually built into the motherboard so it is possible that either the screen or motherboard may have to be replaced.

But, first it is best to try the external monitor. If it works then maybe we can try some other options before replacing.

VIP622 DVR is working one tv in the living room but not in the bedroom?

Debra Beuthling-Gentry,

I would be happy to provide more information on this, though I just need a bit more information. It sounds like the receiver is in dual mode since both lights are on. What exactly is happening on the second TV? Is it a blank screen with no picture, or is there a message that pops up? If it's a blank screen with no picture, try putting the TV itself on Ch. 60 or 73 and see if anything changes.

More likely to be problem in the power supply.
Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Monitor is blank when we turn the computer on.

Maybe not. Find the FN key. It is usually BLUE in color
Then look on TOP row of Computer keyb (or all over) and find CRT/LCD.
Press the FN and that key and your screen should come back. You accidentally sw. it to CRT (outside, external monitor)
