Please include make and model of your set. This will aid in diagnosing your unit. Sounds like a bad optical optical pick up though. Or dirty disc.

Tascam 160 always read no disc

The reason it reads no disc, is because the Optical Pickup(laser) is worn out of specifications. If the pickup cannot read the TOC(table of contents) it thinks there is no disc in the drawer. Your will require a new pickup. If you require more assistance, or would like to inquire about repairing your Tascam(I used to be a factory service center), please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com, and contact me there. Thank you.

I have a Playstation that always says "disc ead error"

Hi,

This is probably a result because somehow the discs got scratched, or are dirty. This could of happened by moving the console with a disc in it, or maybe just touching the "silver" part of the disc. Or, this may be happening because the reading device of this console is a little dirty, or it could just be a internal error

No Disc-alert. Will not play any DVD's. Will not run lens cleaner disc. disc's spin. thank you

Discs spinning after being loaded, that's a positive sign, but 'No READ' or 'No Disc' usually means the laser has failed or its output is too weak to read DVDs (DVD players tend to spin discs at a faster speed with a higher read rate than CD decks (obviously to read the video data as well as audio per disc, the optical/laser voltage rating is higher for DVD). So they are more likely to fail quicker than CD lasers but not always.

In short, since the unit is only a player, and may not be brand new or under any warranty, consider replacing it with a new unit or perhaps a DVD recorder (or even a Blu-Ray player - as they are becoming cheaper to buy now) - the cost of repairs/parts for this one would be higher than a new one and not economical, although you can always submit it to a service centre and get a quote (and a second opinion) on the likely cost(s) of parts/repairs involved. It won't be cheap, trust me.

What you need to do is take you ps2 apart and clean it out and clean the laser lens that reads the cd's...you should be able to google ps2 disc read errors and get videos to help you through it.

My daughters GoVideo DVD player always says CHECK DISC!

If no disk is detected it means that the lens are dirty or defective.
If the lens cleaner disk, or using Qtips and alcohol did not work, then the lens pickup or the disk drive must be replaced. this involves precision soldering and must be done by a technician. Regards.

Drive cant write any disc

If the unit was working ok and suddenly the unit stop to read the blank disk, the problem could be related to a dirty lector (need to clean) or unit firmware (need to be updated)
In that case you can update your firmware here:

http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/Matsushita-DVD-RAM-UJ-840S-104-Download-14615.html

***************************************************************************************
Remember

1) You have to use a blank "recordable disk" to allow your drive write a disk
2) Not all disks are compatible
3) Try differents brand
4) Clean your drive lector
5) Update your firmware
