You should not have to purchase a drivers disk. If you have access to another computer with internet access (maybe at the library) and a good sized flash drive (4GB or better) you can download the drivers for free. Make sure you know what items you have on your computer (i.e. what kind of sound card, chipset, ethernet connection, video chipset, etc.)

There are lots of good places to get free drivers. Manufacturers websites are the best place to start. Just look for the support and/or downloads section.

I have a dell opticplex gx620. It was working perfectly until the windows crashed. I have been trying to reload windows xp but once i press f8 to accept it will show blue screen.

You need an actual Dell windows disk to reload to a new hard drive as it will flash the associated drivers and boot sequence to the RAM. Nothing else works with DELL!

Hi I am Steve, lets get you some help
As you are talking about a hard drive I assume you have turned off RAID.

It does depend why the hard drive has failed. If it is an actual failure of the drive then it needs replacing and the data is lost except from data recovery firms.
However, it may be that the hard disk controller has stopped working. This will prevent you getting to your hard disc.
Your motherboard should have 2 hard disc controllers. Try plugging the hard disc into the second controller, this will be on the motherboard next the the one it is already plugged into. This may solve the issue. If not then it is a hard disc failure and you will need to replace it and use a professional service to recover the data.

My compaq armada 7770 just doesn't come on anymore. i have so much old work disks that i need and in the past i would purchase another 7770 and just take the drive out of one and put it in the next one. ...

why not take out the drive
and put it in a cheap USB driver enclosure
now any PC can read all those files.
why not.?
why make this so hard, its just files.
nothing more complex that say Fat32 files or NTFS.
you dont have IT departments to do this for you?

here , i had to read the
compaq armada 7770 spec. to see it guts.
its got a relic PATA drive, aka then as IDE.
this size is (length /width/depth) 2.5" i think the specs are rare !!!
so buy this.

plug in the drive the usb connect it and bam ,all data there
go to my documents folder and sure there.
i cant guess how or where you put documents, only you know that
but anyone can search the whole hdd, for say *.DOC
or pdf. or?

Can not locate net work adapter

Possible cause:

The hard drive contains all the necessary drivers that makes the computer function and that includes Internet connection. When you installed the operating system and all other software it does not mean you installed the driver for the motherboard which contains the drivers for the LAN.

Solution:

Run the drivers CD that came with the motherboard. If you don't have the CD. contact the PC manufacturer for the driver CD. Otherwise, you can purchase an add on NIC(network interface card).

Problem loading os on compaq evo n610c

Make sure you start by deleting the old partition, and formatting C:. If it still locks up after that, then your hard drive is bad.

I cannot find a driver for wireless (network controller)

You may need to do a clean install. It is possible the crash was caused by the wireless faulting out. If you have the time, create a recovery disk and locate your restore partition. This is normally D: drive. Do a format and restore the system to original factory settings using the restore disk you create and the restore partition. If you can't create these your only other option is to purchase a full version of Windows and do a clean install using that. Make sure you choose to format the hard Drive C: as it is possible that your drivers are stored on any other drives on your computer.

Installing windows on acer notebook help

you cannot usually switch installed operating systems from computer to computer like that and still expect windows to boot, but with windows 98 it *might* work.

to install windows 98 on the usb drive, insert and boot from the windows 98 disk like you were to install it on that computer , and then, it should, before it formats any drives, give you a choice of what drive to format.

Crashing during Windows Setup

Check out any hardware that doesnot supports windows xp. remove that and reload the os. it works. or remove all the additional addon cards like modem, network card, printers etc., (just maintain only hard disk, cd rom and floppy drive)then install the os. once os installs add the components one by one to so that the os will detect one by one cheers!
