Maytag neptune dryer heats but wont tumble

When you spin it by hand, is there resistance? Can you hear the motor turning? In fact, when you switch it on and it starts to heat, can you hear the motor turning, or is it silent?

Sounds like the belt is broken, in which case there will be little resistance.

If there is resistance, it may be the motor or circuitry controlling the motor.

How do i figure out the problem with my dryer

I assume it still turns on and tumbles. I also trust that you have tried running it on different settings and it produces heat in none of them, correct? If it's an older, mechanical type, you might start by taking it apart to look for broken connections. If it's a newer, computerized one, you'll probably want to contact the supplier or manufacturer and see if it's still covered under your warranty or at least get them to point you in the direction of where to find the problem. If you need more help, please provide full details about the issues you're having, the make and model (including model number) of your dryer, how old it is, if the problem happened suddenly or gradually, etc. Good luck.

Dryer heats but won't tumble

Assuming, the timer is ok and that you can hear the the dryer motor running, it sounds like a broken belt. These kind of failures generally occur suddenly - one day it works, the next day it doesn't.

TUMBLE DRYER WONT WORK

It will most probably be the door switch which is either sticking, give the door casing latch a gentle knock with the back of a screw driver, or is just broken. Try and get to the two wires at the switch and shorting them out i.e. linking out the switch. Make sure the dryer is UNPLUGGED when you do this.
