Question about Zebra DS3508 Barcode Scanner - P/N DS3508-DP20005R Barcode Scanner

Open Question

I have just received ds3508 scanners, when I connect them to a Wyse terminal they do not work. No lights no beeps, nothing. When I disconnect the scanner it beeps, I can scan barcodes just fine. I hook it back up to the terminal and I get the same problem.

SOURCE: the scanners won't scan information after being programmed

I would scan default barcode again. If you are using PS2 connectors. Scan barcode for PS2 keyboard. And USB for USB connectors. Most likely it is not seeing the device. Or treating as a keyboard as it should.

SOURCE: problem with scanner

Yeah, from the manual, scan the following settings:
Scan Suffix
7
0
0
9
Scan Options
<DATA> <SUFFIX>
Enter

It's best to copy the necessary barcodes from the manual at 200% zoom, into a Word document and print it out.

SOURCE: Barcodes print too long

This is defendant on the program you use to print labels with. The printer responds to either a print job sent to the driver (like a standard windows printer). Or you can send an EPL program to the printer in order to use internal barcode generating features of the printer. The dimensions of the barcode are controlled via the EPL script. See the EPL programming guide avaialble on Zebra's website for more info.

SOURCE: scanner beeps but doesn't enter data into system

Have you scanned the configuration barcodes on the manual? For example if you are using keyboard wedge cable, you will need to scan the keyboard wedge barcode from the manual. Page 20.

WYSE 50 beeps at turn on, but no data on screen. Seem to recall that you could hold down some keys when powering on, but do not recall which ones.

On powerup, you can get to options screens by pressing one of the F-keys. It varies between computers, but it's usually either F2, F8, or F12. If in doubt, try all of them until you get a menu screen, then go from there. The beep at turn-on is an indicator that something isn't hooked up right, usually, so recheck all your connections, then take it from there. If you still have your manual, it will tell you the powerup options, and how to access them. Good luck!.

Wyse S10 and Windows 2008 Terminal Services

The Wyse S10s require a firmware update to connect to Windows Server 2008. This is due to lack of support for RDP 6.1.

The update I've found to work best is 6.4.0.18.

The only way to get this update is to contact Wyse. However, I have deployed it on numerous clients (our entire base is S10s) and had great success.
