It is quite possible that the printer software has some errors and so there is communication errors betweent he PC and the printer . Sometimes a reset can help and so remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer driver software and then connect the Printer to be detected and installed as a new hardwarre. Check printer properties to see the ink levels.
Use head cleaning before a test is taken . It is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the command , can be an issue with ink drying , can
also be poor ink cartridge contacts

I'm getting an error 0xc18a0001 on my hp 3210 printer. What does it mean? How do i fix it?

Hello,

That code indicates the the printer has the "Ink System Failure" error. This is usually reset-able. That error is normally caused by air in the ink cartridge system. To clear the error you will need to do a purge. We have a free complete guide to perform the purge at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/category/printer-repair/hp-printer-repair/ I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

HP Photosmart 3210 -Ink System failure - Error 0xc18a0001

In addition to having the ink system failure error 0xc18a0001, my printer screen also read improper shutdown. After trying most of the above solutions with no success, I did a search for the improper shutdown problem. This is where I found my solution!

The solution is under "Printer will not start" the solution post is by speters9971. "...you can try a sem-full reset to factory default conditions by 1. unplugging the power cord while the printer is powered on and 2. press and hold the OK and Cancel buttons while plugging in the power cord."

This is what solved my problem after hours of searching & repetitive similar solutions!!! The above solutions did not help; some of them seemed to be incomplete or irrelevant for my model. I have a HP Photosmart 3210 All-in-One.

Thank you speters9971!!!!!!!

Try using these two reset instruction...these clears most of hp errors starting with 0xc...It works on different hp models.. it could work on you too.

Semi reset
1. While your printer is on.. unplug to power cable from the printer.
2. Press and hold the "OK" and "HELP" buttons while you plug the power cable at the back of the printer. Try these steps to reset your printer to default setting.

Full reset
1. Press & hold " * " key...(asterisk sign)
2. While holding the " * ", press "#" key and then release both keys..."Enter Special Key Combo" will be displayed...
3. Press "1", "2" and "3" to display Support...
4 Press ">" right arrow button and release when System Config Menu appear....then click OK
5. Press arrow key to display Hardware Failure Status...click OK....
6. When Hardware Failure Status:Clear appeared, press "OK" to clear...
7. Press "OK" again to display "Hardware Failure Status Cleared. Press Cancel To Continue".....
8. Press "CANCEL" as many times to display "Welcome To Photosmart Express" or "Ink System Failure".....
9. The last part is to turn off the printer and unplug at the back...wait for 30 sec, then plug and turn on the printer...if asked, press "OK" to continue and allow the "One Time Ink Initialization" to procede..After this try to print...

If you find the reset solutions helpful to you...Please rate this solution and vote on this on the YES below..thanks..

I receive an error when I try to print on my hp photosmart all-in-one printer. Ink system has failed. 0xc18a0001

Take the printer to a recycling-centre for responsible end-of-life disposal.

It's much more expensive to try to service it, rather than to replace it with a brand-new printer. Try to buy a new HP printer that uses the same ink-cartridges as you have in your current printer.
