Question about Samsung Cell Phones
Thanks for visiting FixYa!
I don't think you typed the correct phone model. I'm guessing that you have a Verizon SGH-U540 (maybe). If so, you'll need to download the USB drivers to your PC to connect your phone.
I'm going to give you a link to Samsung - for the SGH-U540SAVZW. You need to make sure that this is your phone before downloading the USB drivers. If it isn't, go to the top of the page and select the phone model you have.
(Note:Information about your phone can usually be found by removing and looking under your phone's battery.)
After choosing your phone, you'll be directed to the support page for your phone. Scroll down the page and on the left hand side (your left) you'll see the words: Download Center for (your phone model).
Just below the words, Download Center, you'll see the words, Manuals - Software.
You must click on the word, Software to view the software download area.
The software download area may have multiple options for PC Suites or USB Drivers to choose from. Select the information box for your PC's Operating System.
Now, look to your right at the end of the box and click on the little blue (EXE) download link. After doing so, you'll need to click, Agree when prompted.
The file download box will automatically pop-up on your screen. Click, Save File - and choose your Desktop to find it more easily after it downloads.
(Note: If the file automatically downloads without asking where to save it, go to: Start > My Documents > Downloads. It should be there.)
After the file downloads, double-click on the download folder to begin the install. Simply follow the prompts.
After installation, you must restart your PC to insure the software or drivers works correctly.
(Note: DO NOT have your phone connected to your PC during the install. And, make sure you update the software after installing it.
