Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I open my CS900 Peavey power Amp to service. This is when I realised that One Gain Pot is B50K and one is C100K. Is this normal or has it been changed ? the Two Gain Pot looks like it is not the Original Pot as it is Abundant in the common Market. If I were to replace it, what figure is the best ? Thank you in advance for your answer.

Firstly, the two kinds of currently available pots are A and B, these are logarithmic (A) and linear (B) in their function.

Older pots were marked differently though, it used to be that linear was marked A, and logarithmic marked C.

A gain control should use a logarithmic control ( A, in the new coding system, or C in the older system ) so there's nothing wrong here.

As for the value to use, I would suggest replacing with 100K, the same value as the pot marked with the C, as this is an older marking code this pot was probably in the circuit originally and the 50K pot marked with the A probably found it's way in there in the more recent past.

I hope this helps

Im trying to find a peavey pot 71191012 1MB SNGL 12MM HOR , that is the part number on the peavey valve king 212 service manual also is that pot audio, liner or log taper

Peavey can supply most all the parts for their gear and sells directly to end users. However, they now charge shipping on parts (they didn't used to) so it's best to grab more than just a single pot when you order. Corners, feet, handles, etc

What is the best amp setup to get that bakersfield tele sound with a fender tele.

Normally, the best way to get a very clean sound is to set the master to maximum and then bring up the preamp gain to the level you need.

This could be fixed checking/changing the vol pot of the "B" channel, also i would highly recommend to clean all back switches, including Stereo/Bridge switch, which it should be outwards to operate in Stereo mode, let me know if i can help more.

The problem is LIKELY a broken solder joint right at where the leads of the volume pot come through the circuit board. The broken joint will ozidize overnight and then when vibration rattles it it will punch through the oxide. INSPECT all solder for the pot leads. Lood for a TINY grey line in the menicus of the solder where the lead comes through the board.

Volume adjuster stays on one level can not increase or reduce volume

The Potentiometer/switch (the rotary knob to adjust the volume) is probably faulty. The original is a 9mm B50K panel pot/switch. I'm on the hunt right now for a replacement.

If I can't get one, I'll have repair it using substitute parts, specifically an appropriately sized SPST switch for the power circuit and a regular B50K potentiometer to adjust the volume.

The volume knob has broken off at the base on chan 1 of my peavey KB100 keyboard amplifier. part needs replacing in NW London?

Was it the know or the pot? The pot is the metal(sometimes plastic) shaft with a nut securing it to the enclosure.

Here is your nearest registered Peavey service center. http://www.peavey-eu.com/support_2_detail.php?flag=GB&lan=UK&var=ser&key=SERVICE

This could also be repaired by someone with electronics knowledge. Just would need to know the pot taper and resistance. This would be on the front of the pot on the same side as the shaft. The enclosure would need to be taken apart.

Peavey Bass amp 115

HI Subicbay,

ADjust your Gain setting to limit just enough so the amp does not go into Protect mode. Turn your Gain all the way down, then crank up the bass from your system. GRadually turn up the gain until you trip on protect. Turn the gain back a notch and your set for no more protect.
