Hi,
Is the fan making the noise???
Often this will happen because the defrost timer/board is not defrosting your fridge and then the ice will buildup and hit the fan.
You can tempoarily fix this by turning off the fridge and using a hair dryer to thaw the ice off the coils... DO NOT use anything sharp to try to get the ice off... you could puncture the coils and ruin the fridge completely.
Once thawed you then will need to order the defrost timer or control board that initiates the defrost cycle so that it will not build again.

Check out these tips...they can help you figure out what is going wrong with your refrigerator

Noisy motor on fridge side which whirred to a stop

Hi, It sounds to me like the evaporator fan motor is faulty. They will quit working after they make a noise like that, bearings and windings. You have a door switch that stops the fan when you open the door, that opens the contacts on the motor. It should have come back on when closing door. Now you say it has quit cooling,so if this motor has not come back on and is not running quietly, it will need to be removed and replaced. It may be difficult for you if you are going to do this yourself, but if your up to it, you can save yourself some $.You can buy a new one at an appliance parts house, or get all of the info from you're unit and go online to order one. They have universal motors to fit also.It would be a 120volt sealed motor with a plastic or aluminum blade.Try and remove it yourself if you are able, if not you will need to call out the tech which can get costly. Best of Luck to you and please keep me posted.Have a good night, Sincerely,

If noise stops when you open the door, you may have a noisy fan (or could have ice build up, causing fan blade to hit ice and cause noise). I gather it is a frost-free model ie has a fan in the freezer compartment. If noise is caused by fan hitting ice build up, you may have a problem with the auto defrost system, as you should not get ice build up in a frost free.
Noise stops when you open door because fan turns off when door is opened.

Fridge motor is loud when doors closed stops when open-3.5 yrs old- first time same problem fixed with replacing sensor 2/08 now sensor broken again???

the fan goes off when door opened and when closes it will turn back on is normal operation of fan and door control --as to noise --fan may be failing ---iced over ----if seal failing will cause unit to run more and allows more moisture into evap which can cause more ice over
