I bought a ps3 at a pawnshop and it has a password on it .how do i put a new password on it .

Look in the ps3 menus and you will find the format option.

This laptop could have been stolen property, that is why there is a password lock.
I suggest you take it back to the pawn shop and get your money back.

Step One- Contact Nintendo
Step Two- Let the know that you dont have the current password.
Step Three- They will call you back within 15 minutes or longer.
Step Four- They will give you a new password.

you will have to create a new user id- take the game disc out and start the system. when the user icon comes on select create new user and create your new user and id/ password

Power up your computer
start lightly tapping F8
It should bring up a menu, if not power down and try again
At the menu, choose SAFE MODE
Once the login screen displays, choose ADMINISTRATOR ( if that isn't an option, see below)

Hopefully, it logs you in, if it does;
click START
click RUN
In the box type CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2
Highlight your username and click RESET PASSWORD button.
Type in your new password twice, reboot and tada!

*Immediately* upon powering up your machine, start hitting the "F8" button. You should receive a b/w screen. Using the up/down arrow keys, go to the "Start in SAFE MODE" (no networking). Hit ENTER.
The machine should boot into SAFE mode, with an "ADMINISTRATOR" user-id. Click on this id. Usually, there's no password assigned for this id, and you should be able to enter Windows, then go into Control Panel;Users, and remove the password for all other user ids. Then restart and boot normally.

When seeing the log on screen of the user, press
CTRL, ALT and Del a couple of times untill a box appears asking for user name and password.
In user name type: Administrator and leave the password field blank, this should allow you to get on and delete that account.

You can log in as a new user but im not sure if you'll have admin control of the system, might do though. failing that you could reformat the hard drive but you'll lose all your saved data, music, game saves etc
