IPhone will not charge by wall charger or USB into PC. Tried hard boot and only see red battery with a charge symbol. Any ideas

your battery seems to have a damaged cell, replace the battery and it should run fine

Hold the sleep/hold button on the top and the Home button on the bottom for as long as it takes for the iPhone to reboot.
Check your charger and make sure your actually charging the iPhone. also use a an A/C wall charger, not a USB data cable to charge the iphone.

It could be the charger, the phone's power interface, or your battery. When you plug the phone in to charge it, does it recognize the charger and show the lightning bolt symbol for charging?

If you use your computer's USB port to charge it instead of the wall charger, does it act any differently?

If you've tried numerou?s USB ports, USB cables as well as wall chargers and it's stil not charging then it's sither a comm port/ribbon cable or battery fault. Neither is expensive to repair. For part pricing and guidescheck ifixit.com but better to send it to an authorised repair centre as they'll locate the exact problem.

Sounds like you have at least a broken battery. Apple should give you a replacement. If you're out warranty, you can try to open it and replace battery. If that fails you need a new logic board. Hello ! I was in panic attack !!! did everthing and nothing seems to wake up my iphone. I forgot to charge it so battery went full empty, then I plug it on the wall charger, and nothing happend. I let it all nite, and next morning,... surprise !!!!! still the red icon, No battery, the iphone didnt restart!!!! How I fix it?
1-unplug it from the wall charger 2- press middle button and startup button, same time 3-when red battery dissapear, plug the charger. 4_ do this many times. Didnt work for me the first time, but at the end it works !!!!

I just had the same problem but while filming a video and then pressing stop. You need to "cold boot" (hard reboot) by pressing the home button (center round one) and the start button (top right button) at the same time. Hold both buttons down until you see the apple logo on the screen. Your data should be there. Always go to an Apple Store if you have problems in the future.
