Question about Garmin GPS
I own a Garmin also, my suggestion is to contact Garmin tech support. The reason I say this is because I had one do that to me too and it had an internal problem that only Garmin can fix. Garmins web site is www.garmin.com look at the top of the page where it says My Garmin. If you haven't set up a user name and password with them. If you have already done that then go to technical support explain to them what is happening to your GPS and ask them how to proceed with repairing it. I think you have a internal component failure but I could be wrong.
I hope this helps you out and if it does please give me a yes that you were helped. Thank you

Testimonial: "Was going to log in to garmin site, but actually held the power on button over for 10 seconds and it kicked the gps into startup!"
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
