Question about Heating & Cooling
It sounds as if the Thermocouple and or Thermopile are starting to fail. In which case they will need to be replaced. In addition, any obstruction in the exhaust vent or the fresh air intake vent will cause the heater to overheat and shut down and will not allow you to relight it, until it cools off.
Hope this helps you troubleshoot the problem.
