I think you have asked this question previously, did you try what I asked you to do? In case you didn't get my message, this is what I posted earlier;

"You didn't state the model of your DVD recorder/player. I hope you are aware that some DVD's has a Hard drive (disk) in them. So, there us every possibility that your recorder/player has a hard drive and the hard drive is probably full. This should be the reason the recorder/player is saying "FULL".

Check the settings on our recorder and check hard disk/driver or anything that has to do with memory or storage. Try to clean or delete or format it.

But if you don't find such, insert the empty disc into your computer, format the empty disk and try again.

I non of the above seems to help, please let me know for further direction.

Good luck."........

What kind of blank DVDs do I use to copy an old VHS video tape to the DVD? I have the Sony RDR-VX530. When I put a DVD in, I get an Error message saying that I have the wrong DVD.

According to page 30 of the operation manual, the following information may help;

4x-speed or slower DVD+RWs
2x-speed or slower DVD-RWs (version 1.1, 1.1 with CPRM) (Content Protection for Recordable Media)
4x-speed or slower DVD-RWs (version 1.2, 1.2 with CPRM)
16x-speed or slower DVD+Rs
16x-speed or slower DVD-Rs (version 2.0, 2.0 with CPRM, version 2.1, 2.1 with CPRM)
2.4x-speed DVD+R DL (dual layer) discs
(when using DVD+R DL discs, see the instructions supplied with them prior to use)
4x-speed or slower DVD-R DL (dual layer) discs

DVD-RWs (version 1.0)
DVD+RWs that are not 2.4x-speed compatible
8 cm discs (mini-DVDs)
DVD-RAM (any speed/any version)
DVD-R DL (dual layer) discs in VR mode

A free pdf copy of the manual for this model can be downloaded online.

Hopefully that provides some insight to your question.

When trying to play a computer generated DVD +R DL, I get a message that says this type of disc cannont be played. please insert a different disc

The disc is probably an incompatible format for this model player. Even if the disc is finalised in your PC, or in a DVD recorder, this player may still be unable to read it. Some DVD recorder/players do not recognise DVD+R (or +R DL) media, while others won't recognise +/-RW discs (except CD-RW); this is a model limitation - not a fault with either your player, the PC burning software or the discs themselves.

Nothing can be done to fix this except purchasing a model which accepts multimedia (+R/DVD-RAM etc). The question is, does your player play ANY normal DVDs? I am guessing your player will accept DVD-R DL discs just fine since this is standard as well as proper shop-bought movies.

    Hi i have just bought a samsung dvd-sr150m of ebay the problem is,i tried to put a to put a new tevion 4.7gb dvd rwto recorder a programme but a message came on the screen unable to record or play this...

    Some DVD recorders don't like some types of blank discs. You could have two discs the same but made by different companys and it might only record to one. Also this recorder will only record to - discs eg. DVD-R, DVD-R DL and DVD-RW. Hope this helps.

    Cannot record on +DL - Dual Layer Discs. Maybe it is the brand?

    The discs could be the problem. Even in the same model you will find some that reject a certain type of disc, and yet the one made directly after it on the production line will be fine. The same applies to PC burners.

    Other times those same discs will be rejected or accepted. It's all about the fine lines in production. A minor difference to things like the laser when it was assembled, or the dye used in the discs is all it takes.

    This is why most companies will have a reccomended set of discs that are known to work due to them being manufactured to a higher standard. Between the higher and lower is not alot, but enough to cause problems.

    Look for a place that sells discs as singles, then get one and try it out. The other thing to keep in mind is the more expensive discs will hold the data better, longer and with less errors.

    Finalizing both sides

    A Dual Layered (DVD-R DL) disc has two recording layers on the same side of the disc. No recording is made on the 'other' side of the disc.

    Finalising the disc will finalise both layers. Most probably your computer DVD drive cannot read both layers of the DVD-R DL disc. DVD-R DL discs can only be played back on DVD devices that are compatible with dual layered discs.

    Check your computer DVD drive spec to see whether it can read DL discs.
