Question about Samsung BD-P1600 Blu-ray Disc Player

3 Answers

New Blu-Ray disc won't play on Samsung BD-P1600. It's Disney's "Tangled". I've updated the firmware. The disc loads so you see the Disney castle, and then it stops there. Well, the timer is running, and the little flag on the castle is waving, and you can even see the waves on the river in front of the castle. But I can't get any farther. Can't skip, can't fast forward. Nothing. Just the castle, flag waving merrily. Timer says I've been looking at it for over 15 minutes. Help?

I downloaded the most up-to-date firmware from the internet to a flash drive and installed it on the Blu-Ray Player via the USB port. I haven't had any troubles since. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it remains so.

Press the stop button on your controller when you get to the Disney castle, then press the disc menu button on your controller, this should take you to the disc menu and then you can choose play and watch the movie. This worked for me, I was having the same problem, even returned the Bluray disc, got a new one and same thing happened. The same problem is happening with the Tron bluray discs.

I had the same problem with tron blue-ray on my samsung BDP1600XEU. Updating the firmware solved it. First I tried updating via Ethernet cable but no luck. Then I tried downloading a 80mb file from the Samsung website onto a USB stick. After the update, tron played (we could get past the disney castle).

My samsung bd-p1600 will not play blu ray movies

If it plays other Blue Ray discs OK then either the disc is faulty or it is the wrong region. If it previously played, then my bet is that the disc has a scratch or dirt on it. If you have another blue-ray player or you have a friend with one try it on that or theirs.

My Samsung BD-P1600 will play a SD disc but the rental Bluray discs won't play. Is there any way to reset the player? THX.

It is not the player you need to reset, it is the rental DVD's. They are encrypted with a code to limit the amount of time they can be watched, thereby protecting them from being stolen or not returned. Send them back to the rental company and rent the same movies again. That is your only solution. Your player will play whatever is put into it. I hope this helps.

After trying to update the firmware from 2.13 to 2.15, the Blu-ray player finished the process with no problem, it turn itself off automatically... but when I tryed to turn it on again, it turns on, but...

1. Unplug the player from the wall

2. Press and hold the power button on the player for 10 sec.

3. Plug the player back into the wall

See if this works for you. If not they have live chat support at the samsung website. They will walk you through downgrading your firmware.

BD-P1600 will play DVD-R with no problems up untill the last chapter of a movie then the picture freezes up and wont finish playing. is there a solution? Updated firmware about 3 weeks ago.

Either the Laser needs to be cleaned or it needs to be replaced. To clean, purchase a DVD player cleaner that uses fluid. roughly 20.00 run it a couple times and test. If it works, great. If it doesn't, replace the unit. It's cheaper than the repair. Hope this helps

BD-P1000 Update Solution
The solution that worked for me: I went to www.samsung.com/ca and downloaded the Samsung BD-P1000 player's firmware update to my desktop. When opened, I was directed to"burn" a DVD on my computer. I then inserted the new DVD in my Blu-Ray player. The player automatically checked and confirmed player model number and registration and uploaded information from the DVD and the update was complete. The BD-P1000 then flawlessly played the rented Blu-Ray disc of "The Scorpion King".
Thank You Samsung!
