Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

LG WM2075CW started making loud noises during spin cycle. Now the drum is difficult to spin by hand and seems to be really loose. There is a bit of rubber that has come down between the regular seal and drum. No error codes have come up.

    Thanks macmarkus-

I looked athttp://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/app... to find the parts listed.

So the parts needed are: Rear bearing outer tub assembly (3045ER0008G, $190), 3551ER0003H ($125), Spider (4434ER0002A $115), gasket (4986ER0004F, $85).

It may be a little cheaper to fix it - so I think I'll have to give it a shot. Please send the manual to n8_wright@hotmail.com

Thanks Mac! I haven't done the work yet, but I'm getting the parts on order.

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on the info you provided in your post, I'd suspect the rear tub/outer tub bearing has failed/worn out.

That in itself is bad enough, but worse is the bearing failing will cause much more collateral damage usually to the inner basket spider gear as well as the inside of the front part of the outer shell.

The reality is you can repair it, but you'll likely need to replace a great deal of parts such as what is shown here...
1) rear bearing outer tub assembly
LG WM2075CW started making loud - macmarkus_465.jpg 2) front part of tub assembly. Part #3551ER0003H...no longer available according to "searspartsdirect.com"

3) Inner basket spider gear assembly
macmarkus_469.jpg And lastly, (but not necessarily) based on the info of the statment "There is a bit of rubber that has come down between the regular seal and drum" you may need the door bellows/gasket.

As you can begin to see there is alot involved. I can guide you step by step on "how to" both access this and repair it, but I think you'd be better served if I send you a complete service manual for your washer, it's up to you...whatever you think will best serve you.

You will need to provide an email address I can attach the "pdf" service manual to if you decide you indeed want it. I'll watch for your post and we can go from there.

Thank's for visiting FixYa today. Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

My Kenmore Elite 3T washer has a loud whistling noise in the spin cycle. ??? Thanks!

Hi.

When that happens it is often because the drum bearing is starting to go. The first symptom is a loud high pitched noise during the spin part of the cycle. As problem gets worsening you will notice that the drum will be a bit wobbly if you spin it by hand.

Here parts and diagrams.

Regards.

Ginko.

The drum bearing has perished this wild cause the noise and the brown spots on your clothes is probably the grease from the bearing

It has been making banging noises and the drum is sqeaking.the wash programme stops mid cycle we have drained it and cleaned the filter, it is a bit better but is still not working properley.

  1. Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
  2. check out this following options one by one to locate the fault in your machine.
  3. 1)Check for drum bearing failure if your washing machine is noisy on the spin cycle. Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings.2)Turn the drum by hand and listen for loud noises. If the drum itself is split or the 'spider' is corroded, broken or has come apart from the back of the drum it will create a loud noise on every turn of the drum. (When the bearings have gone bad, the noise is constant the entire time the drum is spinning.)3)Look for obvious dents and creases in the drum or look for coins or small objects stuck inside the tub underneath the drum when a horrendous noise is made while clothes are in the tub.4)Clear the water pump from obstructions like coins or small objects when a noise occurs while the washing machine is emptying water.5)Remove the sump hose and look for bra wires if you hear a light scraping noise when the drum is turned by hand. You can also check to make sure a wire isn't poking out of one of the holes in the drum. In this case, you can pull the wire out easily with pliers.6)Take the belt off and run the motor alone if you hear a high pitched squealing noise to check for motor bearing damage or wear. If you still hear the noise without the belt, it's the motor bearing.
  4. you can get the required partys from

  6. This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

LG Tromm WM2277HW during high speed spin makes noise

I had exactly the same symptom...grinding noise only during high speed spin cycle.

I took the top and back panels off to see how the drain hoses etc. connected. Not wanting to take it apart further, I eventually just took the washing machine outside (I knew I was going to be dealing with water!), pulled the debris catcher front side bottom, and let rip with a garden hose inside the drum with the catcher out (leaving an open drain that could flow unimpeded).

Water flowed quickly out of the open drain, and lo and behold, a small drill bit came out with the water flow. This bit, presumably had gotten through the drum grating, and was resting on the bottom of the housing, scraping and grinding when the drum was spinning.

Kenmore front load washer

My Kenmore front-load washer starts to make the huge noise. The noise happens during the wash cycle, but is mild. During the spin cycle, the noise becomes really loud. It looks like the drum is getting loose and hitting other part of the machine.
I checked the drum, and I can sway the drum easily with my hand. So it looks some supporting structure is broken. I don't know if it is easy to open the washer to check what has been broken.

ckd your warranty papers sounds like rear drum support(spider) has broken will require new basket and rear drum half est cost 400-600 spider is not a separate part and rear bearing is probably damaged that too is not a separate part and require rear tub replacement
