I would suspect that this is software corruption and as such try the HP recovery process from windows.

You can either try, Driver reinstallation, MS restore point or the best selection would be system Factory restore.

If you cannot get anything to work in Windows then by pressing F11 during initial HP boot screen.

Before you try the restore, back up your work and settings using the MS Transfer settings wizard,

the system restore option will also offer to back up personal files on the drive before it wipes out the OS.

You will need an external drive with enough space.

It sounds drastic but to be honest you could waste hours trying to nail down the problem,

A recovery takes 30 mins and you are back up and running.

Then just monitor the HP and MS updates and if the problems starts again you may have a clue what is causing it.

The corruption may be an isolated event or perhaps it is a sign of failing Hard Drive or RAM.

The reinstall may, or may not, highlight that.

You can run a RAM test using the MS RAM-test tool.

Drive testing you will need to use a bit of diagnostic software,

Western Digital have one; Seagate also as well as most of the HDD makers.

Most will work on any drive.

All the above is based on the fact that you have checked your system and it is Virus, Trojan, malware and spyware free. You never know; if you have poor protection then you may be a victim of the cyber-flu.

Hp touchsmart 300

From the User Guide at... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4174137&

The wireless keyboard and mouse are pre-synchronized, for your convenience, to work with your

HP TouchSmart PC. The keyboard and mouse should work immediately after you pull the battery tabs to

activate the preinstalled batteries, and then turn on the mouse (A).

You may need to manually synchronize the wireless keyboard or mouse if they are not functioning.

To synchronize them:

Make sure the keyboard and mouse are next to the HP TouchSmart PC, within 30 cm (1 foot) and

away from interference from other devices.

Keyboard: Press the Connect button on the bottom of the keyboard (B) for five seconds. The blue

activity LED on the wireless receiver illuminates when the synchronization command has been received

and turns off when synchronization is complete.

Mouse: Press the Connect button on the bottom of the mouse (C) for five seconds. The blue activity

LED on the wireless receiver illuminates when the synchronization command has been received and

turns off when synchronization is complete.

If this does not work, remove and then re-insert the wireless keyboard and mouse receiver from the back of
the computer and then synchronize the keyboard and mouse again.

How do I use my iPod With an HP TouchSmart

The HP TouchSmart PC is a common computer, except it has a touchscreen. This allows you to tap the various icons on the screen for games, applications, and download files, and open your iTunes. Using an iPod with your HP TouchSmart PC is like using your iPod to another computer or MacBook. However, instead of using a mouse to navigate through your iTunes library, you need to tap your finger, or "click" on the items you want to open and upload to your iPod.

1. Turn on the computer end of the USB cable into USB port of your TouchSmart. The end of the computer's USB cable is the smaller of the two sides.

2. Connect the other end of USB cable to the bottom of your iPod. Normally, when you connect your iPod to the TouchSmart PC, iTunes opens automatically. If it does not open, tap the iTunes icon on the screen of your desktop to open the application.

3. Tap "File" at the top toolbar of iTunes. Select "Sync iPod" to upload music, photos and even files from your iTunes library to your iPod.

4. Select the "Eject iPod" icon in "Device: iPod" on the left side of the screen. This will allow you to safely remove the USB cable from your iPod and TouchSmart.
Cordless mouse stopped working replaced batteries but will not connect - red light flickers under mouse when trying to connect - coul you please suggest a solution - computer is a hp touchsmart - thanks

Make sure the plug from the base is inseted firmly into the back of the computer.

Also make sure the small plug from the cordless mouse power adapter is fully inserted into the back of the mouse cradle / base.

Make sure the mouse is close enough to the base to connect and there is nothing blocking the light path from the mouse to the cradle's sensor.

Also clean the little led on the bottom of the mouse with a Q-tip to remove any dust.

Good luck and please comment back if this was helpful.

My screen does not respond on my Hp touchsmart pc IQ 506

Is it still under warranty? It should be. If not then HP will help either way. This is a new development for HP to start with. Go to HP/support.com there are questions there to match up with the problem you are having if not then you can send them you actual problem you are having. They will most likely either pick up your PC at no cost or do a remote access to resolve your issue. Have any problem in doing this let me know and I will help you.
