If you are getting this problem you may run the pc on safemode.

turn on the pc and tap on F8 a until advance boot option appear.
Go to safemode and do system restore.

Try repairing installation by booting of the cd and choosing "repair xp installation option". It should work. In case this doesn't work choose "reinstall windows over itself".

Try booting into safe mode with network. you can then go to windows diagnostic tools under control panel. let windows try to fix it for you . by using safe mode with network, you will be able to get on the internet. an easy way to get fixes is to go to microsoft online. they have a support site that will automatically run a diagnostic tool and fix what is wrong from their site. also, you can use HP recovery, or even easier, once you are in safe mode, you could use windows recovery manager, which lets you recover by restoring your computer to an earlier ti

Hve a compaq presario laptop installed win 7 but now doesnt respond ,want to install xp plz help

XP is obsolete and unless you have SP3, there are no drivers from Microsoft.
Go to hp.com and download the Win7 drivers. That will fix your problem, if they are available for your model.

My acer aspire 4315 hangs during shutdown. windows XP OS

Hi,

This happens when there is a process still trying to work in the back end.

Try to disable most of the applications which get opened by default when windows starts.

Click on start/run/ and type msconfig. Once the window comes up click on start up tab and disable all.

Now try to reboot the system.

Also hope there is no usb device connected at the time of shut down. This would also make xp hang.

Thanks

Laptop restarts over and over

Is it Win XP or Vista? hit F8 and see if you can get into Safe Mode, if you can goto start , run and type msconfig, disable all and reboot.

If you cant get into to safe mode, hit F8 when computer turns on and scroll to Last Known Good Configuration. see if lets you in.
If you are running Win XP and none of that works. You will have to run your XP CD and do an OS repair, just load the XP CD at boot when setup starts hit ( Enter F8 then R) let it do its thing. Hope this helps Good Luck.

REPAIRING WIN XP FOR A HP 530

Hi,
If repairing the XP installation is not solving your problem, you can try a clean install by formating your drive and re-installing XP.

Rebooting constantly

tap f8 as the PC starts up and try the option "Last Known good configuration", if that doesn't work, try to enter safe mode using same procedure and try the system restore program when it prompts you,
Thanks for the feedback

Os keep restarting. on boothing the laptop, the windows starts and the user interface loads. when ask for username and password, on entering the username and password, the laptop restarts.

Hi,

From my point of view I think the Operating system needs to be Repaired and below is a guide on how to repair
  1. Boot the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive. Check your system documentation for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.
  2. When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft
Windows XP to run on your computer:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.

To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.
  3. Press ENTER to start the Windows Setup. DO NOT choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R", (you DO NOT want to load Recovery Console). I repeat, DO NOT choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R".
  4. Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.
  5. Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair. If Repair is not one of the options, END setup. After the reboot read WARNINNG #2
  6. Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot. Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact. After the installation is over the system will reboot.

Enjoy
