did you set your blue ray to obtain IP address?

does the cat 5 cable work with other devices?

  • Bert Cutting Apr 05, 2011

It gives me a message about failing to find an IP. The cable works on my lap top but not the blu-ray.

  • Tony Apr 05, 2011

model # for your blu ray?

  • Bert Cutting Apr 05, 2011

    Model: Panasonic DMP-BD65

If I plug the Ethernet from the cable modem directly to the Blu-ray, it works fine.

I have since found out that Netgear blocks blu-rays so I had to switch to a Cisco router. Luckily I found this out before 30 days so Best Buy let me switch it out.

Same combo...Finally figured out that I had to manually input Default gateway and IP addresses. But, I also have the same problem with the Mits TV I bought the same time as my BD player. After a lot of looking, I've decided the router is the main culprit and it's time to buy a new one to keep what little hair I have left.

Restart your router (pull power for 10 secs and replace). Wait for the router to reset and reconnect. I have found that internet connections to devices often have difficulties reconnecting from time to time. It may be the issue of automatically assigning IP addresses?

The default IP mode is set to Dynamic, which means your player will automatically detect and use
your network settings after you connect your Ethernet cable, but you can manually change these
settings if you are an advanced user and are comfortable with networks.
1. Turn on your player and your TV. If a DVD is not in the disc tray, the Home menu will be
displayed. If a DVD is in the disc tray, press SETUP to display the Home menu.
2. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable (not included) to the Ethernet port on your player
3. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to your home network (usually your router
home network must have broadband Internet access such as cable or DSL.
4. Press to select Settings, and then press SELECT.
5. Press to select Network, and then press SELECT.
6. Press ^ or down to select Wired and then press SELECT.
7. Press to change IP Mode to Manual and then press SELECT.
8. Manually change your network settings such as IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default
Gateway, the Primary DNS, and Secondary DNS.
9. Press ^ or down to select Apply and then press SELECT.
Note: If you need additional help setting up your network, please refer to the user manual for your
router or contact the manufacturer of either your router or your Internet service provider if they
provided the router for you.

Your ip settings will look something like this 192.168.2.1

You might be able to find you setting by going to Network Connections -> 2x click on Local Area Connection -> then click on the support tab.

My Samsung Blue Ray Disc player with a Samsung WIS09ABGN LAN adapter won't connect with my Apple Express WiFi and MacBook Pro. How do I make it work?

This disc player is get an IP address.
1) If connected to MacBook Pro with an ethernet cable, it will get an IP address something like 169.254.xx.xx but it will communicate with the laptop

2) If connected the Blu-ray disc player using Apple Express, you need to create an Ad-Hoc wireless network to share media and stream it.

**But ensure that the in-built firewall on a MAC is completely turned OFF or else it should be properly configured.

When you connect the computer to the router, it works !.
When you connect the Player to the router, it doesn't work.
That means the router is working fine.
You will need to check the settings on the Player.
Check the IP address of the Player.
Are you getting the correct IP address on the Player.
You should get the private IP address on the Player.

1. check your wireless adapter TCP/IP settings if its set into "Obtain as IP address Automatically".
2. if the settings is set as Automatic and your not getting IP address then select "Use the following IP Address"
3. use IP address followed to your router address like if192.168.0.1 in router type 192.168.0.2 or192.168.0.3 just check the next address IP in your network.
