Why can't I get picture or sound when my Sound Bar, TV and Blu-ray player are connected?

You have to run an audio cable from the TV to the sounder and put the sounder on the TV input for sound to work. The first choice audio cable for best sound would be optical cable if your tv has optical output on it. If it does then you would put the sounder on the din input for sound when watching antenna or any hdmi source connected directly to tv. If your TV only as analog rca out or mini audio out then put sounder on aux input. I think your sounder came with mini to mini stereo cable. If your TV doesn't have mini audio out the get a optical cable or you can find a mini to rca red/white will work. Optical is your BEST connection and soundbar would stay on din all the time for best sound.

How do I hook an antenna to my tv

Hi Dwayne,

The Proton has an NTSC analog tuner and also an ATSC digital tuner. Have you tried switching or changing the SOURCE inputs?
You may also have to use the scan button to have the tuner "find" the channels for you once you determine that you have selected the correct source for the antenna.
See page 9 of the manual.

I had a TV amplifier Channel Master 3042 I need to know how to connect it

This amp can be used with an off-air antenna or a cable box (up to channel 141).

With an antenna: Connect your antenna to the input. Connect the output to the tv's RF (antenna) input (if you're only driving one tv from this amp), or a splitter (if you're driving several tv's).

With a cable box: Connect the feed from the cable company to the amp's input. Connect the output to the input of the cable box.

How do you connect the antenna and get channels to work?

First make sure that your Input is TV. Use the Input button on the remote (to the right of 0) or on the side of the TV (lowest button). To watch OTA channels, after connecting the appropriate antenna for your location with a coaxial cable to your Antenna In port, press Menu then use the arrows to select the Setup submenu. Press Enter to access the submenu and select Installation. Then select Terrestrial and then Input Configuration. Here select Antenna as your input. Press Enter to save. Then scan for channels by returning to the Terrestrial sub menu and select Channel Program to scan all available channels.

Since digital signals are either sufficient for your tuner to interpret or give No Signal, you need to select your antenna and point it with care. Go to anntennaweb.org or tvfool.com to get information on the stations that you should be able to get in your location. Antennaweb assumes an outdoor antenna but still gives a conservative list of available stations. TVfool gives stations depending on the color code of the antenna (indoor, outdoor, amplified) and their directions. If you are sharing the antenna signal with multiple TVs, you may need an amplified splitter. (If you do have an amplifier, you may want to test removing it from the line and directly connecting the 37HL17 to the antenna. When amplifiers get damaged they can turn into signal filters which block the signal completely.)

If you have the correct antenna, check if another TV receives the stations. If so, you may have a bad tuner on the TV. (Some TVs have better tuners than others and pick up the stations even with lower signal strength.)

I hope this helps.

(I use an outdoor antenna and antennaweb indicates that I should only get the stations from 10 miles away. I actually get those from 30 miles away as well. When I set up a neighbor's TVs with indoor antennas, one only gets the stations 10 miles away and the other gets the stations that are 30 miles away. The two antennas couldn't be rotated to the same direction.)

Excellent picture but no sound

This problem has 3 possibilities, that your tv audio output is already damage or the cables that connecting to your tv and digital reciever is loosed or damage and may be your digital reciever sound pre amplifier is damage. Let's start to your tv, try to use a dvd player or cd player and connect it directly to your tv audio video input, or you can remove the connection from the digital receiver and use a small piece of wire then connect it to your tv antenna input and set your tv mode to aerial tv.If the tv produces sounds your tv is ok. To wire connection, first try to check all the cables that connecting to your tv and digital receiver specially the input, output connection,If wire is ok. Then the digital receiver has the problem try to contact service provider and ask if your digital receiver has a warranty.

Yes hello, i'm trying to hook up my Coby 12'1 digital tv to a converter box is that possible or do i need a cable box for it to connect?

You should be able to connect the tv to a converter box. This is good for OTA signals to a TV with an NTSC tuner (coax) or composite video input. http://www.cobyusa.com/?p=prod&prod_num_id=205&pcat_id=2007#features-tab has the manual for the DTV102. Put the antenna coax cable to the converter box ANT In and then either the antenna out to the TV or the A/V (composite) out to the TV's composite in. If you use the RF connection, you will need to set the TV to channel 3 or 4 and set the switch on the converter box appropriately. For a composite video connection, you will need to change the input to AV1 (if there are several inputs). Depending on the TV, there may be a source or input button on the TV. For other models this is only on the remote. If you have the original remote, no problem. If you have a universal remote, make sure that you have a key that corresponds to the feature and that you found the code that lets the key work for your TV. (Not all universal remotes have the feature.)

However, you should get the best antenna that you can and have it pointed correctly to receive the stations. Digital signal doesn't have borderline reception. Try antennaweb.org or tvfool.com to check the stations and directions in your area. Antennaweb assumes an outdoor antenna but is very conservative in the channel list that it will indicate you can receive. Tvfool lists the channel reception depending on the antenna type. Tall trees and buildings can block the signal.

I hope this helps.

(please note that surges from the antenna can damage converter boxes and kill the tuner.)

HOW TO HOOK UP A ANTENNAE

Hi there,

Well you can follow the below steps -
1. Inspect the antenna for any signs of damage. Identify and examine the power adapter cord and the coaxial antenna cable for any rips tears or other defects.
2. Plug the adapter into the antenna's power adapter socket. It will be labeled "12V DC/Adapter". If you are using an antenna that does not require power, such as rabbit ears, you may skip this step.
3. Next connect the antenna cable to the television using the TV's "Antenna In/75 Ohm" input jack. Make sure the antenna connector is twisted tightly into place. Place the antenna on a sturdy surface such as the top of an entertainment center. If you have an older analog TV that is a non high definition ready/capable display and are using a digital to analog converter box, generally, the antenna will plug into the input of the converter and the output of the converter will plug into the antenna input of your TV.
4. Plug the antenna's power supply into a 120V AC wall outlet. This will turn the antenna on. If you are using the "rabbit ears" style antenna, make sure that the each section of the antenna is fully extended. This will give you the best reception.
5. Turn on the TV and check for digital reception. You will know that you are receiving digital signals because the picture will be clear and free of any analog "snow" or other artifacts. Digital TV channels have DVD quality picture and sound.

Tv not working

Can you confirm that you didn't have any input signal? My wife once accidentally pressed the reset button on the remote and the TV was stuck in this state. I tried to hook up an antenna to the digital antenna input and let the TV search for a channel. It did find a station and got out of the channel search mode, which was all I needed. Then, I unhook the antenna and continued to enjoy my DVD movie. I didn't check the manual. So, it's possible that there is a better solution. My TV was working fine and I think it just has a terrible user interface. I'm not sure about your TV's condition, though.
