Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range

GE XL44 pilot

I have a GE XL44 gas range and the oven is out. I know it is an electric ignition model and you have to open the oven to get to the electric pilot, but I forgot how to do it.

I have the same GE XL44, the top is working fine but the bottom Oven is not. There is no gas coming to the bottom oven. Not sure what seems to be the problem.

I have the same model. The top is working, the broiler is working but not the oven. It stopped all of a sudden. Don't recall doing anything to screw it up.

I have an older GE XL44 gas range. The range and broiler both work, but the oven will not light. I have torn it apart and my belief is the electric heating module that heats to a specific tempurature; then the gas is fed into the oven and ignites, is out. I have not figured out how to replace the heating element yet.

I have an older GE XL44 gas range. The range and broiler both work, but the oven will not ignite. I do not work on oven for a living, but I did tear the oven apart and found the problem. The heating element for the oven has gone out. Looking at how it works, the element heats to a certain tempurature and then gas is let into the oven and ignites. I have not figured out how to replace the electric heating element yet...

Recently, the oven in my GE XL44 range behaves strange. It ignites itself and after a few minutes turns itself. This scares me a lot. Is it normal? Thanks

My GE XL44 top burners can only be lit using a match. The all too familiar clicking noise is gone when I turn the knob to Lite.

I dont know if you recieved an answer yet but this is a fairly easy fix. Open your oven door and remove your bottom oven plate. You now should see the burner element running down the middle. at the rear of the burner element is the ignite r (small porcelin bugger with two wires) remove this and replace with a new one GE #WB2X9154 available from the repairclinc.com website for 69.80 plus shipping. i just ordered (2) they seam to go out like clockwork every 2-3 years. To be safe unplug your ovens 110 volt cord first.

Good Luck
Jim

Unable to locate where o re-light the bake burner on this spectra xl44 oven

Hello,

Your oven does not use a pilot light it has a electric igniter that comes on when the oven is turned on and that is the most common thing thats wrong with a gas oven when it doesn't heat ..that the electric igniter is defective

I have an XL44 and the burners work, but the oven won't turn on and I cannot find the pilot light. Where is the pilot light and do you have any other suggestions?

There is no pilot light. it uses a glowbar style igniter.

The problem is usually the igniter not reaching the correct amp draw .When the igniter does not reach the correct amp draw it may allow the gas valve to partially open or not open at all. The igniters are inexpensive and easy to replace. This video will walk you thru the correct procedure for testing an oven igniter. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

How do i light the oven pilot on a ge xl44?

MOST modern appliances that use gas ignition (including dryers) no longer have a pilot light. These appliances are now equipped with a burner assembly with electronic igniters. The following link explains a little theory about how these igniters work and how to access the them on a gas range:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r401858-replacing_oven_igniter_gas_range

If you are having ignition problems with one of the oven manifolds (bake or broil), it may be a simple matter of a weak or bad igniter. If BOTH manifolds are experiencing the same problem, you may have a bad regulator or electronic oven control (EOC) board. The EOC controls all your oven features.

The surface burners use an electrode type igniter for ignition. There is one mounted next to each surface burner assembly. They get their electric source from a spark module. If none of the surface igniters are working, you may have a bad spark module. If one single burner is not igniting, the problem is probably the electrode.

If you have any questions, please let me know. Include your complete model number if it is different from the one you posted this question under. I hope this information is helpful to you.

The oven pilot does not light. The broiler will not work. The only thing that does is the light. GE XL44 range. The burners light and the pilots stay lit.

If you have standing pilots, make sure the pilot for the oven/broiler is lit as well.  When you turn the thermostat up to call for heat, you should see the pilot get larger. That larger pilot flame heats a hydraulic sensor and opens the main burner valve.

My GE XL44 Gas Range (Model JGBP34 GEP 1A) control

If you like the stove and it in good shape otherwise, have it fixed. The parts are still available. The stove in good used condition (without leak) is probably worth $75.00. May cost that much to repair it. Will cost approximately $450.00 to replace it with equal range. If it's a standing pilot model (no electricity needed) they are unavailable and your new range will require power to use the oven. Hope this helps.

    Getting to the Pilot

Your model JGBP28DED2WH uses spark ignition on the stove top burners, and a glow bar ignitor, part number WB2X9154 for the oven and broiler. To get to the bake ignitor if oven will not light: Take the racks out of the oven. Remove oven floor by removing two screws at back of oven floor and lifting floor. Remove the square metal flame spreader to get to the burner / ignitor assembly. (note: The ignitor may still glow when you try it, but usually is still the problem)

    GE XL44 Range

The pilot light is lit to light the main burner. First off, is your pilot light lit or is the igniter lit. There are two thermal sensor in the oven. One is above your pilot light and will not let the pilot light stay lit unless there is a flame. Secondly, you have a thermal sensor in your oven wired all the way to the switch to turn the oven on. If it thinks that it is at temp, then it will never turn on. This sensor may become bad or the case of my oven break. But if these are good, you many have a clogged burning unit underneath. Cleaning according to the owners manual may correct that. Check your owners manual to see what is user serviceable. Gas is nothing to play with.
