Tried your suggestion /oil and tapping - Nada.

Don't have expertise to get to gear wheels - but turning the cog beneath the tray makes the tray come out slowly but still not responding to controls. On doing this the screen reads Childblock?

See if lubricants would help. try gentle taps on the tray or the motor if it moves. It could be the motor. See also if the cogs are meshing. You may need to open up the covers for the tray assembly to get a better view.

hi there! I would assume that the gears meshed well. I would think that the problem may be with the motor it may be out of alignment or may be weak or may need replacing. If you are confident on going further with the troubleshooting you may remove the panel underneath to get to some parts you may have difficulties with.

Sony vx-515 dvd tray won't open

Mine was a Sony TS-P532 DVD in a Model GX315 player. A BLU-RAY disk got inserted and won't eject. Remove the player cover and on top of the drive is a 3 X 3 (approx) metal plate with a plastic wheel visible in it. Un clip the two sides of the metal plate and it will pivot up and the disk can be removed.

My DVD tray on my Yamaha DV C6480 (it holds 5 DVDs) got stuck in the half open half closed position. It may have come off the track. I opened the case and reinstalled the DVD Tray. Now the tray...

This happens to us all the time. Here is the note I keep on how to fix it quickly:
When tray gets messed up, the drive wheel (with pegs that interlock with pegs on the tray) needs to be such that the tray slides in and out freely. Push tray all the way in. Turn on.

Hope that gives a hint.

Dvd does not eject when open/close button activated?

Hello sir, hi!, the dvd tray is controlled by a single motor connected to a shaft/pulley where a belt is spun to roll a series of mesh gear to move the tray forward... well something like that, usually the problem is the belt, its wormed out, replacing this belt will tighten the pulley making the tray to eject. You need to disassemble the unit and get to the belt to replace it

DVD tray stuck in the closed position

Is it jammed?
Still has a CD/DVD still in it?
Is so try cycling the power to see if it will kick it out.

Otherwise it's most likely a hardware problem like a bad tray motor, broken gear, or perhaps a bad/stuck switch on the tray assembly.

If it's still under warranty, call the manufacture technical or customer support for a possible replacement.

LG RHT 398H. DVD tray not closing, with or without DVD in tray. Tray closes upon request, then immediately opens again, and stays open. Any ideas please? Les

I've dismounted the unit and it seems that I have located the problem. The tray is connected to a wheel, so any displacement is translated into a rotation of this wheel. When the tray is near the close position, it releases a mechanism in order to position the lens. Summarising: if you have pushed the tray with your hand instead of pushing the button open/close, probably you have introduced a desynchonization. To solve this, when the tray is in close position, apply a small rotation to the wheel in order to compensate the desynchronization. There is not an exact position, but you need to try. A few degrees is enough. Regards

DVD stuck

You can pull down the front cover over the DVD tray and you will see a white plastic sprocket wheel on the left bottom. Use a flat screwdriver to push that wheel to the left and the tray will come out. No need to open up the case at all using this method. You can get the DVD out and then I agree with the other posting - go buy a new DVD player! Very disappointed in this Sony product!
