The network (security) settings on your laptop do NOT match the security settings of the network.
You may have these settings written down somewhere. If you have another computer attached to your network, the settings AND passphrase will be saved on that particular computer.

If you cannot find the settings and/or passphrase, you may have to rebuild your network from factory default settings.

Settings saved on other computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network now

This error message usually occurs in windows vista & win7 if the settings saved on the computer doesnt matches with the settings in the router...
You can get rid of this message by deleting the list of preferred networks from your computer...
To delete the preferred networks, follow the method given below...
Open control panel > open Network & Internet(double click) > open Network & Sharing center(double click)
On the far hand side left you will have an option called "Manage wireless networks" If you click that, you will see the list of preferred networks that are already saved in your computer... Now select your network, make a right click and select "Remove network" Select "ok" for all the warnings...
Thats it..! you are done..! Now search for the list of available wireless networks in range, you must be able to see your network name without any error mesages... Select your network and click connect, it will ask for the network key(if you have setup one)... Enter the key and get connected...! You must be able to go online now..!

There are a number of possible solutions for this problem. The best route may be calling customer support for Toshiba and/or the manufacturer of the Wireless router. I'm just brainstroming here, but when I tried to hook up my WII and XBOX wirelessly to the internet, I had to have a "G" connection. Further, you also don't metion the brand or model number of the router. My security setting also had to match there is WEP vs. 128 bit encryption, you have to make sure whatever the defult value is on the computer matches the network.

Usually there is a data plate somewhere on the laptop, probably underneath that will give you the model and serial number. There may be a customer support number nearby that you can call for futher assistence. I'm also assuming that you have "Windows" installed.

On my computer, I have the latest version 7 installed. If you're looking at the Desktop with no other applications running, press F1, then type in network connections, click search. On my computer, the answer came in at number 8, "Why Can't I connect to a network?". There are other possible answers such as "Setting Up a Wireless Network." Most people don't realize that there is built in help with the computer.
