Question about Akai LCT2070 20 in. EDTV-Ready LCD Television
My akai tv wont turn on. The power wont turn on. At first I lost the picture and could still hear it. Then after fiddleing around it came back only to go out again to the point where the power wont even come on.
-I thought maybe I hit something on the remote. I have no idea. Fiddled around with this, nothing. I changed the batteries, no change.
-I press the power switch directly on the tv and still it acts dead.
- I checked the plug in on the wall, ok. I reinserted the ac adapter it came with, nothing, -I checked the cords to make sure they havent been severered by a cat. Havent found anything. -Checked the cord attached to tv, attached fine.
* I have noticed the ac power box gets hot. I read about this in manuel. I have been unplugging it from time to time to let it cool. Im concerned this did something to it. I dont know.
The akai phone number is not working. They refer to another number that I believe is long distance, said press one and leave a message, did so, nothing happened. I dont think it worked. Anyways, called Radio Shack to see if they had a record of the date I purchased this TV, dont know if its over a year, no more then this. The guy was a ass to me. no help at all....I bought it with their credit card. He said I had to come in to get info. Quite frankly I dont think he knew what he was doing.
Im concerned, need help. Hoping maybe this is something real simple since Im still paying for this tv. Im really frustrated because Im a single female and right now my TV is my only friend. Well, ok Im exageratiing, but I'm pretty close. Thanks Any help would be appreciated. Sincerely, TV Girl109 < I just made that up. it sounds good doesnt it?
The power supplies go out on these. I just replaced mine and it now works fine. You need a 12 volt 4 amp power supply with positive tip. I happened to have an old comcast cable modem power supply sitting around and it was close enough. You should be able to find one on the web or Radio Shack. Now if I could only find the pesky remote codes!
(The power supply is the external cord and black box..the green light may come on the box..but the power is low or fluctuates.)

Does the sound not work either? If it does then the backlight in your lcd screen has went out and your better off buying a new one because it is more than the tv is worth to fix it. Just start running through the imputs with about a 5 second pause between as this tv takes a few seconds to switch imputs and make sure you have cable or something connected to it the imput button is the second one down from the power button on the bottom right side of the tv. But if you dont have sound and it just seems completly dead most likely it probly got hit by lightning and slowly quit. Or maby you need to just buy a power supply if you dont see the green light anymore. Worst case senario your tv just got up and quit or maby it burned it self up from getting to hot. You can get a power supply on ebay for as cheap as 34.99. Hope this helps.
