Question about Alpine iDA-X100 Car CD/ MP3 Player

Open Question

I currently own an iDA-X100 Alpine HU that has worked perfectly up until a week or so ago. The USB is the problem. It is wired through my glovebox to my 120 GB iPod Classic. Recently, the cable that connects into the Ipod fell apart, and I tried the original Apple USB but when I try any other cable the unit reads "USB Device Error." I read that you have to use an Alpine USB but I wasn't sure if this was correct or if i could just buy the adapter that goes directly into my iPod. Can i buy this cable online? I haven't been able to find what Im looking for.. Thanks

SOURCE: No sound with USB and IPOD Apline IDA-X100

You connected your blue alpine wire (power antenna) to your blue wire (amplifier remote on) on the BMW harness adapter. You need to undo this, amputate your blue alpine wire (because your E36 has no power antenna) and connect the alpine blue wire with white stripe (remote power) to your blue wire on the harness adapter.

When you switch source from the radio, alpine is shutting off your amplifier through the connected power antenna wire. Since you're not listening to the radio anymore, it sees no reason why it should give it power.

SOURCE: my alpine ida-x100 can read flash drives but not a

The hard drive must be formatted in FAT 16 or 32 for the Alpine to recognise its there. It came pre-formatted in NTFS.This is an easy fix once you know the problem. Just save your data/music onto another drive. Then use a program like easeus partition master (free download) to reformat the external drive in FAT32. Move your music/data back onto the drive and the Alpine will now see the drive and all your music. As a matter of interest some people say you cant format a drive bigger than 32Gb in FAT32, but I had no problem with the above method on a seagate 500Gb drive. Also apparently some head units cant deliver enough power to spin up an external usb powered drive, but again I had no problems with the above combination

I have a similar problem. The original Alpine USB cable fell apart on me and I began receiving an error message. "No, biggie," I thought. "I have plenty of iPod USB cables." But I get an error message with each one, as well as an error message with every iPod I've tried. Apparently the IDA-X100 will only read iPods if you use an original Alpine USB cable.

SOURCE: my ida-x100 has no faceplate operation. When

Hi, I just had the same problem, I fixed it but I don't really know who... First I tried to unmount the faceplate but I haven't succesfully unmount it (the turn button can't be unmount). The I realized that the push and turn button had less rotation than usual so I push and try to rotate it strongly and it move to a normal position. Finally, due to the unmount try, the faceplate doesn't eject as well as before (I need to pull it to eject but everything looks ok since yesterday. Sorry for my poor english, hope that would be helpful for you

I don't know which cable from the stereo in the memory...???

Hello,
The memory wire will be the constant power wire. If it was not a constant power then you would loose the clock and channel settings.

Usb device error

The cord might likely the problem. The iDA-X100 will only recognize iPods if you use an original Alpine USB cord. Using any other cable won't work. I had this problem when my Alpine cable fell apart and stopped working. I thought any other cable would work, but that's not the case.

Aipine ida x 100,usb device error

Are you using the original Alpine iPod USB cable? If not, that could be the problem. The iDA-X100 will only read iPods using the Alpine cable. Otherwise, you get a "USB Device Error."
