Question about Sony Mavica MVC-FD95 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Hi- I dropped my Sony Mavica FD-95 on the floor and the display is now white with lines throught it and you can vey slightly see the photo that was taken ? Any idea how to fix it or isn't it worth it ? I have had the camera for over 11 years and it takes beautiful photos. Thanks, Jay

I forgot to mention that when you put the camera on "still" like you were going to take a picture the color of the screen is OK and looks like nothing is wrong it is just when you go to look at the photos that the problem of the white screen with lines is the problem. Does this help anymore ? Thanks,

From your description the lens housing has probably been damaged, and possibly other parts. Sony supports their products for so long and will not repair, because the camera is 11 years old and the cost to repair could be equal to a new one, I would recommend replacing it.

In that case it is worth getting it checked out to see what it would take to correct the issue, Sony would be the first choice or a good camera repair store, but I would suggest an estimate before you commit.

FD-95 port??

Yes, the small white connector on the camera is the programming and diagnostic port for the camera. We connect a diagnostic connector to this for reading the state of the internal electronics. Upgrades, when needed are done through the port.

Mavica FD95 Flash Quit Working???

My flash went out twice on my FD-95. The first time it was fixed under warranty and it was the bulb. This time I haven't fixed since I have my 707 now. It still works with the external flash like yours did before you dropped it. If possible I would try and buy another external flash since your time is short. When I had my camera fixed under warranty it was just about to run out and they, the camera shop, told me I should get it fixed now instead of out of warranty because the cost could be hundreds just in labor alone. Good luck.

Installing memory stick into a Sony Mavica FD-83...

There is absolutely NO way to use a Memory Stick with the FD83 camera. The floppy adapter will never work with a FD83. The camera OS does not have the required driver.

Mavica FD-88 Rattles

you have nothing to worry about. It's normal. The 3.5 diskette drive is a 4X speed and the noise you hear is normal. All FD83's and 88's will make noise and vibrate a little.
