Is this a "trick" ? I assume very carefully so the bulb won't break!

No taillights but turn signal and break lights work.

These use a dual element bulb. It's 2 bulbs in one. The brighter element inside the bulb is used for the BRAKE light & turn signals. The second, dimmer element in the bulb is for tail lighting during night driving. Because they're on the whole time you drive at night they tend to wear & burn out sooner then the BRAKE light element. Assuming they're both the same age, they would burn out close to around the same time. Replace the bulbs. However, the tail lighting/running lights are also on separate wiring too. So check for damaged, rotted, or shorted wiring or bulb sockets, & also check the running lights fuse. If the fuse is blown, it's a good sign you have shorted/bare wiring, or damaged socket.

Why no brake lights?

Did you check the bulbs? ground?

Use a known good bulb and see what happens. If no light then power is definitely not reaching the bulb or the circuit is not complete.

You might need a schematic to track down the possible component responsible for the situation.

I have a 99 s10. The right taillight and back up lights go out at random times during cold weather. The brake lights work fine. I think its a short but I'm not sure

Check the ground wire at the right taillight. This is usually what I find is the trouble spot. It should be grounded to the body from the light receptacle. Clean off rust from wire and body, it may be necessary to replace the ground wire and or drill new hole for ground screw.

How do I reset abs and brake light on 1997 dodge ram 1500. Replaced speed sensor. Also unplugged Pulse control box under dash. Light is determined to stay on. Please help

Some cars/trucks run the ABS power through the brake light bulbs!
Does brake light and ABS light come on separately, key on,engine off?
Be sure that the parking brake switch is not bad.
The brake light should flicker/get brighter/dimmer when actuationg the parking brake.
Also, defeat the low fluid warning sensor.Defeat the pressure differentail switch.
I know some MFRs make both lights come on when either system fails.

Check for signal FROM the sensor at a wheel Use A/C voltage mode. I have spun the undriven hub with an electric drill to see A/C output.

Please note that the brakes will work OK but you not have ABS function.

See if you can get the brake warning light out, separately.

All lights on the 02 Escalade works except the dash, all fuses are good, all bulbs are good as well

your dimmer switch for dash lite control as well as dome lite may be bad double check your fuses with a test lite as sometimes a fuse will look good its not blown but the wire can break inside

Headlights sometimes dont work

I had similar problems on headlight and I solved them installing relays on high beams. It worked well, if you don't know how to do it just ask.
Anyway, if the voltage is getting to the bulbs right (the relay should assure this (try to put a direct wire between the positive on the battery and the pin of the bulb, to see if things change: if so, the relay is bad or badly fitted)), if the bulbs are new, and the exterior lenses are in good shape, then it can only be the inner reflective surface. I heard people that removed the headlight form the car, filled it with water, some sand and whatever through the bulb hole, and, shacking the whole headlight, cleanig them, but I didn't ever do it personally.
Try the test of the wire between the battery and the bulb, if there's any change in brightness then the fault you're looking for is electrical, and can be restored with well installed relays.
