My watch stopped working. It's been in a jewelry box for a few months, no exposure to light. What do I do?

Eco-drive watch should work for 1 year out of light. Take it out of the drawer and place in light, and check that the pin on the side is pushed in all the way.

The light was fading on my Indiglo Timex watch but it was still keeping good time, so I had a new battery installed by a Walmart employee. The light now works on the watch but the watch stopped keeping...

mcdevito75 here, Your Timex watch is most likely an Indiglo meaning light, The battery supplies power to to Quatz mechanism for time keeping and for the light. There is a very good possibility that 1 or 2 of the contacts between the battery and the Quatrz mechanism were lost during the new battery installation. While you can"t rule out that the Quartz mechanism and or the light may be wearing down, you still have to suspect the battery even a new battery, look for a small watch repair shop in your area and try another battery, let the jewler know of your watches problem so he / she can properly install the battery and ensure the contacts between the Quartz and the battery are being made.

My timex watch back wont close, it fell and popped open, I put battery back in place but now wont close, jeweler tried closing it with machine thing, it wont close.. it has gray leather band with...

If the jewelers equipment will not close it, you have only one option, you must send it back to the maker (see the Timex web site for your nearest service center).

They should be able to fix it. It could be that the watch IS dented (it wouldn't take much to ruin the fit).

Discuss your problem with the service center before sending it to them.

If the maker can't fix it, then you could always use impact adhesive but you would not be able to replace the battery when it dies. No watch later might be better than no watch now!

The back cover for my watch popped off when I dropped it. How do I get it to "snap" back on?

I used to work with jewelry. !!BEWARE!!
This method is for face crystals that are completely FLAT! Any convex crystal will shatter without proper tools!!!
Any method of putting the watch cover back with the watch remotely near water/moisture is a mistake. The watch will rust sooner or later.
So if you don't want to pay a jeweler five dollars to put it back on, this is what I did to my sister's watch cover when I could not snap it back.
I took my cushy 1/4 inch mousepad to a vise. You may not have a vise. If you don't, stop reading now and take the watch to a jeweler --one who replaces batteries.
Inside the vise jaws, I used a 5 inch square piece of wood, then my cushy mousepad, then the watch facing the pad, then the back in the right place for restoring.
!!!!NOTE: Not having the back in the right place will smash the stem and damage can/will result!!!
To push the back on, I picked a 12 point socket out of my socket set that was the same DIAMETER as the watch back and placed it CENTERED behind the back.
Recapping, inside vise:
  • small board
  • cushy mousepad (to avoid scarring and crystal breakage
  • watch crystal facing mousepad
  • watch back in correct position
  • ratchet socket the same diameter as watch back centered behind cover
Slowly I positioned all these items with minimal pressure. Then when I was sure that I was ready (and prepared to hear the crystal break) I put as little pressure closing the vise that I could. The I heard a snap, and to my relief, it was the back going in!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO WHAT I DID. People with broken watch crystals become very IRATE when "all it needed was a battery"!

A screw clamp would also give adequate pressure. Any unsupported direct pressure over the crystal will shatter it!

Hope this helped.
Good luck!!!!

Hi i'll try to make this short,i have a grandffather clock i took it in for repair the part thats up in the clock that holds the pendulum had broken off, that was the only problem with it.when i got the...

After reading all the explanations I understand that your clock is not overwound or damaged and do not need any further repairs even you've been transporting (carrying) it.
The reason it does not work is simple - your clock is out of beat and all it needs is just to put it back in beat. This is simple operation for watch/clock repairer, but would be very difficult for you without proper knowledge.
So, my advice is: Take your clock back to that repair shop (don't forget the receipt for the previous job done). You must carry the clock with the pendulum off, but don't leave it at home. When in shop, ask to put the clock in beat. Simply say: '' My clock is out of beat. Can you correct this for me, please?''
As this clock was repaired there some time ago (receipt is proof), this is clockmakers responsibility to put it in beat before handling back to the customer. As well as this, clockmaker should have to explain how to carry the clock and how to hook up the pendulum without disturbing the escapement. If it was not done, you have the rights to ask to fix all that.
Do not be afraid to go and to ask them to finish their job properly. These are your consumer rights and you are not asking for any extra work to be done.
Do not try to contact them over the phone, as it is allways better to face the person and speek directly.
Pull your socks up and go!
Good luck.

Cannot get the cover back on Fossil watch after changing battery

First open your bracelet. Then align groove in caseback with crown and press that side lightly into the case. Then using both hands(one from dial side, another from back) press as strong as you can.
If this do not work:
Get mens leather belt and place it on flat surface(table top). Lay the watch face down on that belt. Again adjust caseback as before and using your weight push caseback down with both hands.
NEVER use hammer or similar.
If none of these works- go and see your nearest watchmaker.

Replace the back of a dkny watch after replacing the battery,

For closing your caseback you need the man with very strong hands first, but it might not work as some casebacks can be closed using special tools only.
Before you visit the watchmaker, try this: first of all open your bracelet by taking out spring lug. This will make more space at the back. Then take watch caseback and check for groove in it. Align that groove with stem (pin going into watch movement) and deepen grooved caseback side as it should be. Then without turning caseback apply great pressure with both hands to the watch(from caseback and dial sides). If hands are strong enough, caseback should snap on into place.
In case if it doesn't work, find a piece of thick leather (wide mens belt will do) and place it on completely flat surface (table top). Place the watch face down on that leather, adjust caseback groove with stem again and try to press caseback down with both hands, only this time using your weight.
If all mentioned above doesn't work- you have to go to see watchmaker.

Good luck.
