John, increasing the Btu output would present a safety hazard. As the grill was built, tested and approved for exactly what the maximum Btu output is now. I wouldn't recommend doing it.

Do all grills take the same regulaters does a four burner take the same as a 2 burner?

For the most part, yes. The size of the regulator is based on what the maximum BTU Output of all the burners (Main Burners, Side Burner, Rotisserie Burner, etc) would be, if they were all turned to high at the same time. To keep the cost low, most manufacturers use the same hose/regulator assembly on all their grills, regardless of the number of burners.

Hope this helped you and Happy Grilling!!

Can i drill out LP hole in cap for NG

Yes you can, but only if you know the BTU rating of the burners. Then you need to know what size drill bit to use to drill each orifice. Plus you will need to eliminate the LP regulator when you hook it up to your house's already regulated natural gas line. When you hook up any gas appliance, it needs to have it's own shut off valve installed on the gas line. I also like to install a quick-disconnect adapter after the shut off so I can release the hose from the grill and put the grill away when it's not in use. I have LP/Nat gas conversion charts available to look up drill sizes if you need to know more details. Keep in mind, that if the grill does not state the individual burner BTU ratings, but only the total BTU rating, you will have to divide that rating by the number of burners. Douglas

Not enough heat being generated

First things first. Make sure you didn't simply just the tank valve on too fast, causing the excess flow valve to cut-off gas to a trickle. Close tank valve, disconnect and reconnect and then open tank valve very slowly.

If that doesn't solve the issue, seeing that you already replaced the regulator, then it's possible it wasn't converted properly. If he didn't change the orifices, leaving in the nat gas ones, then your flames would be large lazy yellow flames. If that's not the case, then it's possible he might have put in the incorrect size LP orifices based on a wrong figuring of BTU rating per burner. See if you can you find the BTU rating on the grill? How many burners are there? Does it state the BTU rating of each burner. If they are different sizes we will need to know BTU specifics for each burner, but if all are the same size, we can divide the total BTU by the # of burners for BTU rating per burner. Orifices have a # stamped on them, so see if you can read the #'s on the existing orifices. If he used the nat gas orifices and drilled them larger and installed a spud, which he redrilled for LP orifice size, then that stamped # won't matter. Something like this is a lot easier to trouble shoot in person! Using a small mirror, see what you can figure out on those orifices and we'll try to determine if they are correctly sized. Hope this helps.

My burners don't put out out much of a flame. Model CGBD48RSBX. Ten years old. Can I clean them?

Hello. Clean them with a wire brush and a shop vac. And, read on: re you frustrated because your gas grill doesn't get hot enough lately. The problem you are having indicates that you have to go through a procedure called "RESETTING THE REGULATOR". Follow these easy steps:
1. Turn the burners on for one full minute and then off.

2. Next, remove the regulator and the hose from the tank.

3. Then reconnect the tank to the regulator and hose.

4. And very slowly open the tank.

5. Last step is to fire up the burners and start cooking with you new hot flame.

The problem began the first time you opened the valve on the tank too quickly. In the future, always turn the tank valve on s-l-o-w-l-y to prevent this problem.. Joe

Converting Weber Genesis Silver B from LP to Natural Gas

Hello...I have the same grill and want to do the same conversion...From my research, you need to drill out the three orifices with a size #53 wire gauge drill bit. ( this resizes each orifice to 12000 BTU's each, which the grill is rated at 36000 BTU's).Then remove the existing hose and regulator. Replace the hose with a Quick disconnect compression fitted hose. The NG supply needs to have a pressure regulator installed, with a shutoff and quick disconnect fitting installed. Connect the hoes from the grill to the supply, and fire it up...THIS IS WHAT I INTEND ON DOING TO MY GRILL,BUT YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK>>>

Lighting Problem/2 year-Old Ducane Grill

Do you have enough gas pressure coming out of the regulator and gas valve? You'll need a pressure guage for this.

If yes, try taking out the burners and cleaning them with a wire brush, especially the flame spreading sections.

Sputtering grill

I have a TEC Pattio II. I have owned the grill for almost 10 years and TEC grills have a ten year warranty on many of the parts including the burners. The burners on my grill have a ceramic inserts. The pop and loud whooshing noises indicate the ceramic insert or the seal on the burner is "cracked". I have replaced both of the inserts and burners on my grill once about 5 years ago under warranty. I have one burner now that will not stay burning and I contacted TEC today regarding the problem, and I will replace the ceramic insert only under warranty. .

The newest TEC grills like yours have the TEC Radiant Glass Infra-red Cooking System with stainless steel burners with glass surfaces. I assumed this burner system had eliminated the problem of the burners going out with a loud boom or sputtering.

YOUR ONLY OPTION IS TO CONTACT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE GROUP AT TEC. THE TELEPHONE NUMBER IS 1-800-331-0097. TEC IS LOCATED IN COLUMBIA SC. TEC HAS A USEFUL WEBSITE.
