What does Fixed Dialling Numbers mean?

Fixed Dialing Numbers or FDN list is a SIM card based security feature which allows the phone to be "locked" so that it can only dial certain numbers, or numbers with certain prefixes.

A PIN2 code (numeric password) protects the allowed list of numbers from being changed by any person who does not know the PIN2 code.

In FDN mode, your device will restrict outgoing calls, except for the numbers stored in the FDN list.

To activate FDN mode,
1.) In idle mode, open the application list and select Settings ? Call settings ? Fixed Dialling Numbers ? Enable FDN.

2.) Enter the PIN2 supplied with your SIM or USIM card and select OK.

3.) Select FDN list and add contacts to be used in FDN mode.

To De-activate

1.) In idle mode, open the application list and select Settings ? Call settings ? Fixed Dialling Numbers ? Disable FDN.

2.) Enter the PIN2 supplied with your SIM or USIM card and select OK.

Warning: PIN2 is a serious SIM-based security feature of the handset. If you are not sure of your PIN2, please do not enter random PIN2. When you access a menu requiring the PIN2, you must enter the PIN2 supplied with the SIM or USIM card. Contact your service provider/ Network for your PIN2. If the wrong PIN2 code is entered three times in a row, PIN Lock(PUK2) will be automatically activated.

WHATS A FDN?

FDN (fixed dialing mode) is the setting where you can't dial a number that's not in your sim card data. It is supposed to be used as a security measure when you're away from your phone and don't want someone to use it to make an unauthorized call -- unless the number is in your sim card you won't be able to make the call.

If this helps please vote.... I need the ratings. :)

There is (FDN) Fixed Dail Number under, More then Security. Does anyone know how this works? LG VU CU920.

FDN is a feature that will limit calls made from the phone to only those numbers that are listed in the address book. If you do not have the number stored in your address book, you cannot call the number. This is useful for when you loan you phone to someone or otherwise want to limit the numbers called from it.

About fixed dialing
If you enable fixed dialing number (FDN) mode, your device only makes calls to contacts on your FDN list. Your device can dial emergency numbers in FDN mode, even if the numbers are not in the FDN list. If your service provider plan includes SMS, you can also send SMS messages to contacts on your FDN list

so if you have this enabled chances are you have to turn it off.
this is how you turn it on so you should be able to use it as a guide to turn it off.

Turn on fixed dialing
1. In the phone options, click FDN Phone List.
2. Click the trackwheel.
3. Click Enable FDN mode.
4. Type the PIN2 code provided by your service provider.
5. Click the trackwheel.

or if you wanna keep it on and add friends to the fdn
