Question about JVC Video Cameras

1 Answer

Hi, \r\nI dont see my JVC cam in the list so I'll post here. My model is GR-D93EK. My problem is with video capture to my computer using NeroVision 10. Previously, up to about 5 years ago, I had done a lot of sucessful video capture to my PC using NeroVision 7 using an IEEE 1394 link. But all of that suddenly came to an end attempts to capture ended in a matter of a minute or so. I sought help from Nero but found them less than helpful. So I packed in the venture and shortly afterwards so did my PC. I now have a laptop (Targa Traveller 1776X2, running on Windows XP) and in recent days decided to try a trial version of NeroVision 10 again using te IEEE1394 link to my GR-D93EK but lo and behold same problem and this message "Unable to analyze the captured file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Joe\My Documents\Nerovision\CapturedVideo\NVECapture.0019.avi' ". This seems to suggest my problem lies in my JVC cam. I always have the cam linked to my laptop and powered off before launching NeroVision. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Regards, Joe.

Hi.

About the ""Unable to analyze the captured file", the problem is usually that the computer does not have codecs for the JVC file. Codecs are software patches for video applications used to decompress movie files.

About the initial problem (capture ending prematurely) ensure that the preview is not on.

Download codecs here:Free-Codecs.

If that does not fix the problem, it may be an issue with Windows 7. In that case try using Native Capture settings in Nero.

Regards.

Ginko.

Downloading Video to my Computer from a JVC GR-SXM920

You need a video capture card that supports analog inputs. Connect the video and audio out jacks from the camera to the computer. You will need some sort of software also. The Movie Maker software that comes with Windows XP would work.
The little cord that came with the camera will not transfer the video.

I am trying to download a video from my JVC camcorder on to my computer. How do i do this?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

It would seem that you posted twice.

Offhand for an analog camcorder, two (2) possible ways:
  • firewire if available on both the camcorder and computer;
  • video capture using the composite yellow RCA connector or S-video (whichever is available on both). The computer must have a video capture capability as well as appropriate software to run it.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Connect old camcorder to new PC

JVC has the support page for the GR-SXM260U here: http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027120&pathId=25&page=3&archive=true. This camcorder can be connected to a TV with the S-video connection (JVC recommends their YTU94146A S-Video cable) or two RCA connections. If you use an RCA composite cable, you use only one of the two audio connections (white) and the yellow video cable.

To connect this camcorder to a computer, you need a USB video capture device and some type of video capture software. Here are two examples: https://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Multimedia-VC500-Video-Capture/dp/B001FAE8MA and https://www.amazon.com/ION-Analog-Digital-Converter-Composite/dp/B002MT7JFQ .

I hope this helps.

My computer no longer recognizes my JVC GR-D70U mini DV cam when I plug it into a usb port.

Hi, I am not sure. But I believe the camcorder has to be on when you connect to the computer. and I assume you use firewire for this particular camcorder.
I too once had this problem when I used Windows Vista. If you too use Vista, try it with Windows XP.

cheers,

You can transfer video from the camera to your pc by using an i.Link connection if your camera has it or you can use the supplied usb wire to connect it to your pc and transfer the video that way. If you do not have the cord it is easily obtainable at any camera repair or sales store.

If it's a JVC GR-D72, then it's MiniDV. Connect the camcorder via firewire to your PC

Can't transfer video from cam to pc

While capturing the video you have to change the Video mode to PAL or NTFS mode & store the Video's in Memory card,

When you want to transper the video's, remove the card or directly plug in to the camera to Computer USB port

Now you can transper the Movie's easily..

Try it out.

good luck..
