Question about Maytag 24 in. MDB9150A Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Maytag mdb9150 dishwasher stopped at some point last night--found it this morning with flashing lights--I think "clean" and "heated dry", not sure.  I used "drain/off" to make sure there was mechanical noise--there was, so I don't think the machine is dead.  Purchased on 2001 with 5 year warranty, so out of luck there.  I tried turning off the electricity to the unit for a few hours; nothing improved.  When you start it (or think you have!) it makes noises for about a minute that sound promising, then nothing, then a sort of low buzzing "I think I can" sound plays intermittently. Please help!!  Thanks. Marsha Landau, Evanston, IL

Check pump and solonoids click/work, if no mechanical noise, could be the circuit board, but they can be expensive. :(
if the solenoids click, and allows water in, then the pump might be jammed, with grit, clean and reinstall... good luck !

Whirlpool dishwasher Clean light is flashing, we just bought it last week and after the third wash, the Clean light started flashing and it won't go off, which stops it from doing anything else. User manul...

The blinking clean light is an interruption in the dishwasher program that either indicates a malfunction, or a simple program glitch. The following link explains how you may be able to clear the blinking clean light problem:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575752-dishwasher_blinking_clean_light

Keep in mind all dishwashers are not alike and have different panel options. If you do not have the same set up that I have mentioned, the tech sheet for your dishwasher will explain the touch pad functions. The tech sheet is located behind the lower toe panel under the door and lists the proper sequence of buttons to push for diagnostics and troubleshooting. Just remove the screws that hold the panel in place and remove.

NOTE: Sometimes the tech sheet is located behind the inner door panel. You will need to remove the screws securing the inner panel to access it if this is the case. Make sure you turn off the main power breaker before doing so.

In many cases, I found this to be a momentary glitch in operation. If the problem keeps reoccuring the number of flashes is an indication of WHICH circuit is causing your problem. As all dishwashers differ in operation and features, refer to your tech sheet for the recommended troubleshooting steps.

NOTE: Some dishwashers use the Sani-Rinse/Air Dry combination, some use the Sani-Rinse/Heated Dry combination. Some use a sequence of three, others use a sequence of 5 pushes of the buttons. If the tech sheet is not located behind the lower toe panel, it should be affixed somewhere under the dishwasher. I have also found them located inside the inner door panel. Let me know if you still need assistance.

I hope this helps you solve your problem.

'clean' light flashes

Press the normal wash then heated dry buttons in the same sequence two to three times. The unit will enter diagnostics mode, but can be stopped by pressing the cancel button. It will clear any existing faults and makes the dishwasher to operate normally.

To prevent the issue from recurring, run your hot water faucet first to ensure that hot water is present in the entire supply line before starting the filling.

Turned Fridgidaire washer on last night before going to bed; this morning, it's running (at least making sounds) but did not wash; 4000 Series Frigidaire; display says Washing Drying Er Clean S; and two lights are flashing - Ultimate Scrub and Rinse only.
I tried turning off the breaker and restarting the machine but that doesn't work.

The heated dry and clean lights flash together

I had this same problem. I read on another blog that the manual recommends that you turn the power off to dishwasher. When you turn the washer back on, the lights still flash but then push the off button. The lights stopped flashing.

Clean light flashes constanly. Won't clear out to start new cycle

If the clean light flashes 7 times, pauses, then repeats...

When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it will stop working and lock the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

...all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2 minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

If the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit (ie. element, thermostat or wiring). It rarely happens but it could also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed (slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door when you close it).

Kenmore dishwasher, model 665.170 344 01. "Clean" light keeps flashing and will not stop. Have tried everything in the manual and the light still will not stop flashing.

Kenmore ultra wash quiet guard 3 dishwasher problem

call sears, 1-800-4MY-HOME. They have a trouble-shooting department that will get rid of this problem. It is caused by water temperature being wrong at the start of the cycle.... blah, blah, blah. The representative will tell you to push a certain set of buttons in a certain order and that unlocks the dishwasher.

Sorry I don't know the sequence
