I have a Ryobi Pressure washer model number RY80030a. Water is leaking from the bottom where the pump head bolts to the carter. Is there suppose to be a gasket or sealant between the two parts?

each piston has a water seal and they often come in a water seal kit..... remove the head from the gearbox and replace. water seals are similar to oil seals

Karcher 395 motor does not stop running

if your machine was factory fitted with 'total stop system' TSS and has always stopped in the past then it is an issue with many possible parts !

does the machinw still operate at full pressure ?
if the machine can produce full pressure then it only has to produce 20 % more to actuate the TSS piston. When the stop piston moves it presses against an electrical switch tjat breaks the circuit. Producing 20% more pressure requires that your machine has no water leaks in the pump, hose, trigger gun or lance. Once you release the trigger the path back from the trigger to the pump TSS piston must be fully sealed.....

If you have a Karcher then you should always post your machines barcode.
The karcher barcode is on a silver sticker and is usually 15 digits long. Example 156987400000123 is actually model 1.569-874.0 and serial number 00123....

Why can`t my compressor pump over ten pounds ?

You didn't state what model compressor you have so in gerneral: if you have no leaks, remove the air pump head to check the reed valves on the valve plate and the condition of the piston, piston ring(s) and cylinder. If the reed valves are broken or warped from heat they won't seal properly. If the piston ring(s) are broken or the cylinder is badly scored air will leak past the piston instead of compressing and going into the tank.

May be time for re-seal kit. Usually, water leaking into crank case of the pump will mix with the oil /grease and produce gray looking foam. This grey looking substance still has lubricating properties but is a sign that the seals are failing and allowing water to enter the crankcase. The water can enter thur /past the piston seals or thru crack in the chamber. On some high pressure pumps, there is space between the rear is the piston/cylinder area and the oil/crank case. This space will allow water leaking past the cylinder seals to drain out of the pump and not enter the crankcase. In any case, water or oil leaking out of the pump is not normal. If your pump has several hundered hours of use, check on ebay for complete replacement instead or rebuilding (rebuilding a pump is not always successful, for reliable performance, replace the whole pump with same or upgraded model ). Good luck

My 2500psi pump leaks what can i do?

sounds like the seals and o'rings are worn and causing the pump to leak water.also one of the pistons might have a crack in them.dis assemble the pump and inspect the pistons,if none are cracked, then replace all the o'rings and seals.this should stop the pump from leaking.

I have a Troy Bilt pressure washer with a pin-hole leak where the manifold attachs to the pump unit. Can I just back-off the fasteners, scrape the old gasket off and replace with liquid automotive gasket...

Most likely the piston seals are leaking This is a good thing as since it leaks out it is keeping the water from entering the drive mechanism. If you can find the PUMP brand and model you can get parts fromm a place like . The parts are inexpensive for just the seals before you ruin the complete pump. When replacing thee seals, you might as well replace the pump packing too since they wear. If you cannot find the pump numbers, then get the Troy Bilt model number and check their web site for parts. They have parts listed there but i think they only list the complete pump not pump repair parts.

I have an Excell Pressure Washer Model VR 2522, it is leaking from the botttom but can find its exact location of the leak, have all the part but can't find the leak and don't know what area it's leaking...

Hi and welcome to Fixya. Your model has the A14527 Pump assy on it and they are notorious for the pistons leaking due to blow by and the 16 MM seal on the piston starts to leak near the drive shaft.
In addition the O-rings #2950 that mated the piston housing leak. Add to that the 4 o-rings that mate the pressure head to the pump also leak.

See this manual:

There are a BUNCH of parts in this pump. One mistake and it will not work when you get done working on it. Be careful what you disassemble.

The seals that leak are items 4, 15 and 16 in the manual.

There can be other leaks.. the ones I pointed out are the most common.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I have a Porter Cable air compressor model CPLKC7080V2. Air leaks from the pressure switch and aftercooler safety valve and the pressure switch before the compressor reaches 80 lbs pressure. I replaced...

I believe you have a head valve or piston ring problem. The parts you replace are suppose to leak. It is a safety feature that doesn't allow the motor to burn up before the pump warms up. Kind of like a soft start feature. If you look on the breakdown part number 107 Kit Valve Plate is what you need to inspect. Sounds like your valve plate is either worn or damaged. If you go into the pump you will have to get part 103 also which is a gasket kit. Or you can try to salvage the old gaskets.
If the valve plate is ok you will need to inspect the rings that go around the pistons. Some times you will get one that gets brittle and breaks off scarring the cylinder. Look for these two things, I am pretty sure one of them is the problem with your compressor.

Pressure washer won`t pressure up

Dear rustrick281,
It seems that your pump needs a good service. The sucktion and delivery valves got faulty. The high pressure seals and the low pressure seals must be renewed. The pistons must be checked for corrosion and cracks. Also the pistons or one of the pistons got stuck due to oncorrect lubrication. The swash plate that drives the pistons could have got loose. So the motor turns and the pump stays dead. So a good examination and service must be done to the pump. To renew all the parts I have mentioned, you must buy a PUMP KIT for you model. The pistons are not included in the pump kit....but hopefuly the pistons are still good. Also the oil inside the pump must be renewed.
