Question about GPS

1 Answer

I have the garmin portable friction mount bean bag. I can't figure out what to put on the back of the gps unit itself to hook to the "spike" that I have put into the "vice" holder in the beanbag itself. This is a round disk with peel paper, but it doesn't have a hole in there??? Thanks

I'm guessing your Garmin is the Nuvi model. You need an additional mount that mounts on the unit itself. Go on ebay and search Nuvi car mount you will see many of them on sale on there. The mount you need for your unit is kind of U shaped with a hole in it to attach to the post on your friction mount.

I hope this helps you out and if it does please leave me some feedback.

How do i attach my garmin nuvi 1350 to my garmin bean bag friction mount.

You just need to take the suction cup windshield mount and attach it to the hard plastic disc on the bean bag, then attach the gps to it.

How do I connect the garmin nuvu to portable friction mount

Hello.

The Garmin Nuvi GPS unit can be taken on the go or set up inyour vehicle. Most units come with a window suction mount that attachesdirectly to your window while some have a sticky dashboard mount. These twooptions can leave permanent marks on your car, with a dark circle on yourwindow or leftover adhesive on your dashboard. Use a friction mount to avoiddamaging your car. The mount uses bean bags to hold it in place withoutdamaging the dashboard.

Instructions
1 Place the friction mount bean bag on the center ofyour dashboard. 2 Snap the Nuvi unit into the plastic mount and set iton top of the bean bag mount. 3 Position the Nuvi at the angle you prefer for bestvisibility while driving. 4 Hold the mount in position and slide the switch tothe "Lock" position. 5 Connect the cables to the Nuvi and you are done.
Thanks for using fixya.

My garmin nuvi 350 suction mount falls from the windshield after several days.

I believe they all do that, I own a Garmin and I bought what looks like a bean bag because I got tired of my suction cup mount falling off my windshield. The nice thing about the bean bag mount is that you can move it closer to you and place it anywhere on your dash. I bought mine on ebay from the Mount Guys they have a big selection of mounts for all types of GPS's take a look you might want to make the change too.

I hope this helps you out and if it did please leave me some feedback

Best way to mount on dash

Go to garmins web site; https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=13431&locale=en_EN#accessoryTab
Click on Accessories. From the list click on Portable Friction Mount.
Weather conditions will not affect this friction mount.
You may find the mirrow-mount setup from Ram mounts a better alternative;

How do you attach a garmin portable friction mount to a garmin nuvi 780?

Your 780 should have came with a plastic bracket that clips onto the back of the unit and the ball of the mount goes into the back of the bracket. Hope this helps!!!

I have a Garmin Nuvi 310 and the windsreen mount keeps falling off the galss irrespective of how much I clean the window and the suction cup. I have heard this is a common problem... I sent an email off...

Have you tried wetting the suction bottom before applying it? Also, try looking into a Garmin friction mount. It's a heavy bean-bag like mount that is filled with lead pellets and has a rubber bottom that won't slide on your dash. It's easily removable, legal in all 50 US states and you'll prevent damage to your Nuvi as your Nuvi won't fall from the glass and hit the dash.

Everytime i put it on my dash it on the dash it comes loose and falls off my dash . no matter how carfully we mount it

Try using a friction mount. Its basically a bean bag mount with rubber grips on the bottom to prevent it from sliding on the dash. Much easier to remove than a window mount. Try looking on eBay for "friction mount" and also typing in the model of your GPS.
