The top rotating water jet is not working. It seems that no water is going into this rotator. How can I trouble shoot/repair this. Thanks Howard Schein

Why doesn't upper sray arm work?

  • Improper loading or over loading of dishes and glass ware that blocks the spray arm from rotating; check your user's guide for proper loading methods.
  • the holes in the spray arm can be plugged from food particles or other debris, like coffee grounds; remove the spray arm and clean out the holes; run water through the arm to verify there is no blockage.
  • check to see if the spray arm became disconnected from the feed tube or the feed tube from the water inlet feed hose.; reconnect hose or tighten down on hose clamps
  • check for any filter blockages; remove food particles and debris
  • the tub itself could be under filling, because of a restricted water inlet valve; pour 1 to 2 quarts of water into the tub of the dishwasher and run it; if the performance improves, replace the water inlet valve with a new one; DO NOT try to repair the old valve- it will fail once it's taken apart and put back together.
  • the circulating motor drives a water pump that rotates an impeller, which creates water pressure to go through the washer arms and out the holes. The jetting action of the water pressure exiting the spray arm holes propels the arm to spin...if the water pump impeller is worn, damaged, or impeded by food debris, the cleaning action will be greatly diminished; inspect and clean or replace the impeller if necessary.
  • If the aforementioned trouble shoot and repair methods do not correct the problem, then a more in depth diagnostic check will have to be done by a qualified repair technician to check switches that controls the water/drain pump, (if it is a dual action model for example); to verify if the switch or the pump itself has failed.

The water seems to not be hitting the top row of dishes and the dishwasher has gotten louder, end result not cleaning the dishes

Best to chck the water pump which could be partially blocked and not sending water to the top spray feed.

It would be helpful to have the full model number in order to identify the part numbers etc.

The unit goes through its cycles but the top rack is not getting clean. The bottom spray wheel works, the middle and top spray arms are getting water but it seems not enough to make them rotate. The pump...

The problem is likely to be that the jets in the rotor arm are blocked.

To check this, remove the arm (it is easy to do, as it is intended for the user to do this) and clean out all the holes. Try running water from you tap through the holes (backward flow) to remove anything that is too large to pass through the jets.

Wash blade does not turn

Check the spray arm rotating axis. Clean them.Rotation is by water pressure only. It's like rotating garden fountain!

It seems other posts were correct - The upper arm doesn't spin all the time. Once I learned that, and let the dishwasher cycle through, I saw that the upper arm does spin. So, there wasn't a problem with the upper arm afterall. That doesn't solve my crusty dishes problem, but that may have something to do with the soap we're using. We're going to try changing that next.

Hello. our dishwasher is leaving the dishes dirty. as far as i am aware, its going through its sequences and processes properly

open door when in cycle and check spray arms are rotating. these only rotate with water coming out of angled jets at end of arm. if there is a blockage in the jets then no rotation and poor wash. take them out and clean

Neff dishwasher

if the arm is rotating freely when you give it a push by hand, then the problem is blockage in the jets in the arm - the arm only rotates with water coming out of angled jets at the end. take arm out, spray water in centre hole and whatever is blocking the jets should become visible. prize out with a paperclip or similiar

My Bosch dishwasher model #SHU43C05UC/14 drains well and has enough water(I replaced the inlet water valve already),but not washing the dishes clean especially the top rack. What could be wrong?

open machine when running and check both spray arms rotating - you will get a bit of water out. if spray arms not rotating, usual cause is debris in the arms. the spray arms only rotate by water jetting from angled jets at the end of the arms. take them out and make sure all debris removed
