Dell OptiPlex 780 with Windows 7 does not play my cd's or dvd's and is missing from device manager

Sounds like a problem of non-detection by the system. If the drive is missing from My Computer then it definitely is a non-detection issue. Try using this file (it's an exe when unzipped) and only required double-clicking.

Dell inspiron 560 cd burner not working

Occasionally I find a cd (or DVD) reader that acts up. Maybe it will read some cds and not others. They are pretty cheap, I suggest getting a new one. If you are not comfortable opening up your machine and making changes, buy an external drive. If you do want to open it up: not only unplug, but remove cord from power supply. Open the door by removing the screws (sometimes thumbscrews) on the back that hold the side on. Take the side door off. The cd unit will be held in by 2 screws. Remove them, they will require a small Phillips screwdriver. Try to slide the unit out the front. If it will not move with moderate force, then you will have to remove the other side and remove 2 more screws, but this is infrequent. There will be 2 cables attached to the unit, remove them and the cd unit should slide out the front. Once you have it out, you can go to your favorite computer store and get a new one like it - but I suggest getting a DVD to replace it, as most software nowadays comes on DVD and a cd reader will not read a DVD. Do the reverse to install - but be sure first to set it to "master" or "slave" (to match the old one) if it is an IDE type.

I would like to have/purchase a step by step instruction manual for the operation of my Dell Inspiron 560 Slim Tower computer. A manual that explains "To do (this) click on (whatever) tab on the...

This sounds more like you're looking for a general "How to Use Windows" guide, rather than something specific to the Dell 560. If you recently purchased this computer, it should have come with Windows 7 pre-installed on it. In this case, I would recommend the "Windows 7 For Dummies" guidebook, which can be purchased either at a local bookstore of your choice (ISBN #0470497432), or through an online retailer like Amazon: Windows 7 For Dummies

Good luck, and enjoy your computer; learning the ins-and-outs of a home PC can be a fun and educational experience.

Pls help me... my dvd rom have coins inside.i didnt know.i put cd and then it cant open and i cant take out the cd aswell. my laptop is dell studio 1435... pls help me...

Look at the cover near the cd slot - it should still have the hole. You mention coins inside - kids? It seems probable that the cd was installed with power on, but you will still have the hole - it's small so that a paper clip will just fit into it. Since you have the coins probably still in there, I would disconnect power, remove the cover and pull the cd driver from the tower case. More than likely the cd and cdrom drive will be damaged beyond repair, but if you remove the drive from the computer you'd be able to shake the coins out of it and also to be sure the coins aren't going to short out *********** board. If you can do that then you might as well reinstall everything and put it back together, then power it up to check it. Who knows you might get lucky...

Lg tower pc

you need to go into bios at startup, press F2 Or Delete Or Esc on bootup. When you get into the System Bios. Change the boot device priority from HDD To CD/DVD To boot first.
Save/exit And when you reboot ( with windows XP in the Drive ) you,ll get options to format or re-install.
