The configuration of system you are using and what you need it will determine the ram you will need.but with the number of slot on the board.if it has two slot know that it can be upgraded maximally to 4gb

What type of RAM is compatible for my desktop pc for increasing speed ?

Your motherboard can support up to 8 Gb of ram, of type DDR2 667 MHz or 800 MHz. In practice 667 would do I believe as the performance difference is not great in practice. The board has 2 DIMM sockets for this.

It depends somewhat on your OS and what you want to do. I'd try 4 Gb first. Bear in mind that added ram doesn't actually speed the computer as such, only a faster CPU does that, but it will allow more windows to be kept open, and cut down on data swapping to virual memory on the hard drive.

I need to know if the CPU speed can be increased to 1GHz or over and that I have put in 2 memory modules of 128MB onto it but only 128MB appears on the System Properties. Irvin.

You are confusing 2 things, CPU speed and Memory or Ram speed.

To keep things straight forward, cpu speed can only be increased by replacing it with a faster cpu.

Ram, as you can see, can be increased by adding faster ram modules.

Go to either of these websites:-

http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/default.asp

http://www.crucial.com/uk/

Enter *********** board details or request they scan your computer. Check all the information offered, they will tell you what type and how much ram your motherboard can use.

If you can't increase your ram speed to more that 1Gb, I would suggest it time to invest in a new motherboard/PC rather than spending more on RAM.

There can be a whole load of reason why your second stick of ram doesn't work.

1) it could be broken.
2) It could be the wrong type.
3) You may need to update your Bios to accommodate it. Though this is very unusual.

Need to buy a new Mother Board?need some help

Now a days every motherboard is come with PCI-Express Slot and this mothrboard can also handle more than 3.0Ghz CPU and it support DDR2 RAM which is faster than DDR1 RAM.

High FSB and high storage of DDR2 RAM will increase your computer performace.

DDR2 RAM FSB is depend on your motherboard choice. Because your motherboard should be able to support your RAM FSB rate.

I have intel pentium 3 with 128 ram. how can i increase ram memor

To upgrade your RAM you would need to know what type of RAM your motherboard supports. Once you have this info you can then check online who sells the RAM modules. Once you make your purchase you then can remove the old modules, replace with the new modules & reboot. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

System wont show memeory upgrade

thing you need to know:
  • how much ram can the board take (you can't put more in)
  • the type of ram (sod,sdram,ddr,ddr2) speed is less importantas it will drop back to the slowest chip.
  • look in the motherboard manual to find out
  • search internet if you do not have the manual
  • static electricity can kill electronic compomants so ensure you have earthed yourself before going into the box or handling the chips (this is a bit late but educational)
sometimes you need to go into the bios (change nothing but "save on exit) the system should see the new ram
good luck
