Question about Farmall IH Tractor 706, 756, 806, 856, 1206, ITIH32

1 Answer

I have 706 Farmall tractor with the D310 engine and TA. When I baught it the transmission fluid was all milky with water and the TA and power steering did'nt work. So I changed the oil and filter and everything seemed to work fine, but now several weeks later it started to act up again. When I first start it I won't have any steering and TA is stuck in low side and in one occassion the 3 point arms didn't drop. Usally when i drive it a while and get it warmed up it works again. The oil is slightly milky again from old oil contamination. Thanks for any information. Moses Zimmerman

806 internatoinal grinds when you try to go from low rangr to high range,is it likely that the transmission is bad?

the first thing to remember is that this transmission has straight cut gears that shift with a slide collar the tractor probabably will need to be brought almost to a complete stop to shift. if it continues to grind check clutch pedal adjustment and ta dump spool adjustment . then adjust trans brake . at1000-1200 rpm it should drop into gear with very little or no grinding

F 806 rear lift stays up, unless tractor is off....

i would think that the lift control handle is stuck in the lift position, and when the engine is on the fluid will bypass the control handle and thus raising the lift. replacing or repairing the control should solve the problem. good luck

I have a 1967-706 Farmall IH splitting a transmission

you must remove the plate from the bottom of the transmission. Look for a shaft that goes from the rear through a gear. Remove snap ring from in front of gear and it should roll apart then. On reassembly be sure to change gasket and all o rings to prevent hydraulic suction leaks
