Question about Sport & Outdoor - Others

1 Answer

I have a 2000 600cc Grizzly. It was running great last week, now it`s not. The neutral light only comes on when the bike is runnin, and the headlights are on. The electric start doesnt work any more, and the battery keeps draining within 2 days. Soo frustrating. Any ideas?

Even though you have a full battery do a load test on the battery. There could be dead cells in the battery this would have the effect. If you have dead cells then you would not have enough Cold Cranking Amps to start the vehicle.

Yeah, I hear u. But this is a new battery, and a new one. I have been told is not the stator/altenator, or the battery. The mechanic at pro cycle thinks it is a ploblem with the wiring, like a short or something. I know nothing about these machines... Thanks for the helpful info my man~~

Then check all the ground wires. If you have a loose ground this will cause a lot of problems like: Hard Start, Lights Dimming and not running right & More.

Also Check for corrosion on the wires or battery terminal.

Just to narrow the problem down a bit, try unplugging the regulator/rectifier and see if the battery still discharges over a short time, the diodes in the rectifier can leak backwards even though the unit still performs normally when the engine is running, (this problem can often be diagnosed by the reg/rec unit getting warm or hot when bike is left parked up). its worth noting that the charging system remains in circuit, ie connected, even if the bike is switched off, and relies solely on its diodes to stop reverse current drain, hope this helps.

2000 yamaha grizzly issues when warm

Check oil level capacity, to ensure in specs. Check spark plugs, ensure its clean and correct plug for your quad.the only other could be is ign coil breaking down when warm. Check fire at plug when this happens. First ensure oil level is correct. Make sure your electric fan is on when bike is warmed up.

When I turn key on I have head light but no instrument lights and it won't turnover

I would suggest you check the wiring loom around the headstock as you were able to cause symptoms when moving the handlebars. You may have a broken wire inside the loom so you will have to open it to inspect it.

Wont start at all

If you have no light you can't even hot wire it sounds like the ignition switch is bad in the start and run positions.

Friend took delivery of his brand new YBR 125 last week. Neutral light is on yet bike is obviously still in gear as bike pulls forward/stalls when he releases the clutch lever. Have not addressed with...

Could be a bad neutral switch, shorted or mis-connected wiring. This should be covered under warranty by the dealer at NO charge. Hope this helps!

A FRIEND GAVE ME A 1982 SUZUKI GS550L WAS PARKED FOR OVER 5 YRS + AND IT STARTED WITH A JUMP START I THINK THE BATT IS NO GOOD DONT HOLD CHARGE WHEN ITS RUNNING , THE FLANGES HOLDING THE CARBS LEAKS...

The neutral safety switch is out of adjustment. Most bike won't start unless it is in Neutral or the clutch lever pulled in. Get a new battery and charge it up full. The intake boots need to be replaced or it will run lean. That is why you need to chock it to get it to run.
