What is the difference between a external hard

External hard drives contain a power supply to operate a standard hard drive in a case. It usually connects to a USB port. Usb drives get their power from the wire that connects it to the USB port A regular internal hard drive gets it's power from the computer's power supply wiring. The data cable is either a flat ribbon cable or a 6 pin cable that connects directly to the mother board.

22av700a how to activate usb port

Depending on your PC, press the key that lets you enter the BIOS setup during boot. Check there if your USB port is enabled (normally should be so). If it is, check if other USB port, on same group, is active. If so, you may have a faulty port (some connection inside broken perhaps).
Also you can try checking with Device Manager if the port in question shows any power .

Have an " Amilo Li2727 laptop SN model MS222 With USB problems

have you looked inside the Bios or System Setup to make sure the USB is enabled?

Have you tried using a device that used to work in the usb port? Maybe you are trying some new device that it can't recognize such as a 1TB external hard drive.

I have an Intel D845GVSR motherboard. The 4 back USB ports are enabled but the two front ports aren't. I also have a Creative Combo NS DVD ROM with card readers in it. My Computer guy enabled the card...

This is probably set in the BIOS. You need to reboot the computer and enter the Setup/BIOS to enable the ports. Otherwise they're physically disconnected in the case and you will need and expert to reconnect.

My two usb ports have moved towards inside of computer . i tried to disemble the computer without sucess. all srews battery, harddrive have been taken out. what else must i do to remove back cover

This issue requires intricate soldering, you need to send it to Toshiba for motherboard replacement. Most likely, the USB ports were pushed in too hard and the port broke off of its location. Even if you were able to access them, it is unlikely you could fix. However, this model is still fairly new, so send it to them and claim it came that way...

I bought a new laptop and my mp3 player is not coming being recognise on the laptop

Hi there, if the MP3 player is connected to your laptop's usb port, then the usb ports of your new laptop must have been disabled. To enable this, you need to go to your Computer Management by right clicking your My Computer and choosing Manage. On the left panel, click the Device Manager. From your right, look for the Universal Serial Bus controllers, click the (+) sign to expand the list inside it. Right click each entry and choose Properties and on the General tab of each device, make sure that the "Device usage" field is shown as "enabled".

Another way to do this is enabling USB ports thru the BIOS settings. Upon bootup, login to your bios setup by pressing the Del button on your keyboard. Depending on your laptop model, other requires F2. Once you are in, go Advanced, press down arrow key to select USB and hit enter & choose Enable . Save your setting & exit to restart computer.

Good luck!

My cruzer 4 mb usb stick is suddenly not recognized by the computer

this may have many causes. first possibility: the stick is dead and needs replacement. second: there may be a problem with the usb-port or -controller. if you connect a different usb device to the same port as the stick, and it's recognised, the usb- port is fine and it surely will be the stick which is broken. if the other device isn't recognised either, it's a usb related problem. in this case you should verify if all settings for usb in the BIOS are enabled, if the usb-controller in device manager has been installed supposedly. if not, reinstall, reboot and try again. if this does not work, you need to replace your computer's system board

I have sony note book model pcg 505x but i can not install windows through a usb port

first you must go in the bios page and enable booting from another devices (in your case usb port) if this type of computer have it enabled in bios page . second after you make this save changes to the bios exit and asure that you do not have any booting operating system in your peripherials (like hdd or cd-rom) till is coming usb port turn to boot, and vooila you are able to boot from usb port (if you have usb bootin driver or pen or else like this)
if your pc model bios dont have booting from another devices (or usb writen directly) sorry you are not able to boot from usb port. try to make a cd or dvd version and booting from cd or dvd device.

Black Screen On Laptopm

Hi Poodlebreede,
most probably your problem should have been from the USB port. But how.?If you notice USB port have 4 pins inside and this pin is cover by like frame or box (this is a ground signal).I've seen such a case that when one of pin got touch the frame inside...that mean your voltage is leaking to ground. This mean if switch on nothing will happen...voltage leak to the gorund. What you have to do is...
1.look at that port nicely, try to notice properly
2.use something or maybe plug the USB cord...push it up-down slowly..(tyring atleast it can come back)
3.Try to test by turning it on

Hope this information help you...
Bye,goodluck and takecare
