Using Skype...
1. click the Call tab and in the resulting drop-down menu, click Audio Settings...
2. in the resulting window for Audio settings: Set up sound on your computer

3. for Microphone Volume, if Automatically adjust microphone settings not set, click its check-box.
4. if prefer to manually set Volume, then uncheck the check-box and click & move slider button.

Recommendations from Toshiba:
Windows 7 and earlier toshiba_icon_white.png The information below is designed to help solve your microphone not working properly. This does not cover problems related to specific programs or third-party microphone hardware and software.

  2. Select "Sound" from the results.
  3. Select the RECORDING tab and select the desired microphone. Default microphone is Realtek High Definition Audio.

Reloading the sound driver may resolve this issue.
  1. Open the Start Menu and type "Device Manager" in the search field. Select "Device Manager" from the results.
  2. Locate and select "Sound, Video and Game Controllers."
  3. Identify the sound devices.
  4. Right-click on each one and select "Uninstall".

Downloaded skype. I can receive and hear the calling party, but they are unable to hear me.

This is the issue regarding the Internal Microphone in the Computer.
Your contacts cannot hear you, until you have enabled the Microphone in the Computer.
You will find the information to enable the Microphone below:
Windows XP:
1) Double-click on the Volume Control. 2) Select the "Properties" option from the "Options" menu. 3) Select the "Recording" option in the "Adjust volume for" section. Click the OK button. Check the box labeled "Select" under the microphone volume and you should now be able to adjust the volume for the microphone.

Windows Vista:

1) Right Click the Volume Icon at the bottom right corner of your screen [The Task bar]. 2) Click [Playback Devices]. 3) Right Click the [Speakers] Icon and click Properties. 4) Click the [Levels] Tab; and there you will see the Microphone Volume slider (The one at the very bottom of the "HD Audio output" and "PC Beep" sliders where you can un-mute the mic playback.

Windows 7:
1) Click on Start (the Windows icon) and type sound. 2) Click on Sound under Control Panel. 3) Click on Recording tab. Select Microphone and click on Properties. 4) Click on Levels tab. The default Microphone Boost is set to 0. Increase it. 5) Close all the dialog boxes, and the microphone will be ready for use.

Hope this helps.

Check which microphone device u have set up. Try changing it around. Also try just speaking closer to the microphone and into the mic. Some mics just are not good.
