Question about Sony CFD-G500 Radio/Cassette/CD Boombox

1 Answer

Volume control Radio was under a leak in the ceiling. Was getting staticy noise with power off. Unplugged it and let it dry for several days. Everything seems to work fine except the volume control - low sound but very bassy (super bass adds more). I have no qualms about taking apart and even have test equipment - figuring out how to get it apart (there seems to be six marked screws) is usually my biggest problem (that and understand9ng electronics).

If you did not fix this, I would like to purchase the antenna from you. My ex wife returned my radio with a missing antenna! So please email me at christian2002ad@aol.com

There may be a low/high switch which lowers or raises the base sound level before the volume control has any effect.

I am having problems with the volume knob. The

That is a dirty pot switch.. The volume adjusting pot gets dirty.. Two things to try..

1.) With the unit off - spinn the volume min to max many many times at a rapid pace.. This sometimes will displace the debris in the pot..

If that does not work --

2.) Get some "tuner cleaner" in a spray can.. At Radio Shack or a similar store.. Lay the radio on its back so the volume knob is facing up.. Pull the knob off carefully.. Use short controlled bursts of the spray.. A few sprays and spin the knob min to max several times and repeat..

Good luck..

Az 1574 Philips radio

Unplug the unit and take out any batteries ( power down the unit completely), Let the unit dry out for a few days or dry with a hair dryer ( low heat ). If the unit still dosn't work I would assume water has damaged the main board ( process board etc. ). If that is infact the sitution, chances are the unit is not worth fixing. Sorry for the bad news. I hope it works out for you.

Overall Problem - Panasonic RX-ED707 won't work properly at all

only 1 reason for that faults :

there is a flat connects the top panel which has all the controls with the other circutes in the stereo...
so you have to open it and care for the cd unit it damage easily then check the flat for loseness or cuts
it happened to me also and that works perfectly
good luck

You're welcome in advance.
This particular unit was advertised to be unbreakable when dropped due to its shock absorbers; therefore dropping it will fix it.
