you need to plug it in directly to the netbook first with a ethernet cable so you can enter the routers utility and configure it

Hi there,
Setting up the router using a wireless connection may work. You can wire your router to your netbook using an ethernet cable (ethernet cable looks like a phone cable but the connectors are bigger). Check your netbook first if you have an ethernet port.

I am trying to connect my netbook to the internet and it won't connect because it can't find an ip address i have looked and tried everything what do i need to do?

The first way, and one I use a lot, is just plug your netbook into your router at home, using the netbook's Ethernet port and the cable supplied with your router.
This way works every time, gives a fast and secure connection, but means that you need to use your netbook within cable distance of your router. Any internet usage will be part of your normal broadband usage with your home ISP, but isn't the point of netbooks that you can be mobile with them? Who wants to have nice new netbooks tied up by a cable?

2 - Wireless netbook connection using your home ISP
Another way to get online with netbooks if you're at home is to connect wirelessly to your home router.
It's a very easy process - just turn the netbook on and it will seek out your router. You get a fast connection, good security (if you tell your router to use WPA encryption) and it will usually work anywhere in your house or garden. Several netbooks, laptops or other computers can use your internet connection this way from the same router, so your family and friends can use their netbooks at the same time.
3 - Wifi netbook connection out and about

A really cheap way to get online when you're out and about is Wifi. Many busy locations - pubs, hotels, shopping malls - have "wifi hotspots" which are simply powerful wireless routers that you can use to connect your netbooks wirelessly to the net.
Some are free and can be used by any computers that are nearby. Others are owned by telecomms operators like BT Openzone or mycloud and you need to pay to use them. Monthly subscriptions or pay as you go are available. So are these free and cheap choices ideal for using with cheap netboks?
For anything other than general browsing on netbooks, beware of wifi. The free ones have no security at all, and the others have password protection, but the data you send and receive is not encrypted. This means anyone in the vicinity could snoop and listen in on what you were doing. I don't bother with wifi for this reason.

If you have a wireless router you must know the password you made when you set the router up.
Try also to look in your controlpanel network and shareringcenter.

Hope this was helpfull.

Hi bought an aspire one series netbook yesterday but cannot conect to my epson wireless printer can you help

I think you will find that the printer needs to "talk" to a router as does the laptop.
Install a wireless router and that should solve your problem.

Disconnection issues with home wifi.

First install the latest LAN and wireless drivers.
Second all the NIC ans wireless cards need to have the TCP/IP address to be obtained automatically (no fixed IP addresses unless you have a print server with a fixed IP address, then assign this address high so there is no possible conflict). The D-Link is also a DHCP server and issuses IP addresses to the various LAN and wireless card so there won't be any IP address conflicts.

Netgear MGT624: My netbook shows its connected to my router but

Re4place your Wireless Access code as set up with router control program. Often wireless access is denied when mistakes are made with this pass code. Just replace whatever code you have with another (simpler?) code or even going to "None" for Security. To try and establish comm through the router, if it succeeds with no security try again with perhaps WPA-[TKIP] coding.
