Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

My GE 24 in Profile PDW8280JSS door wont open: Now the "clean" light is on. I tried cutting power for over an hour, I have run wash cycles, the lock handle will not move. The unit did not have much in it, when I last closed it, so I don't think it is jammed. Any ideas?

If you have cleaned the filter sump and you are sure the kitchen side of the drain hose is ok, then I suspect there is some problem in the separation circuit between the wash and drain pumps in the dishwasher.

See this diagram.
The turbidity sensor (item 321) could be faulty. This is supposed to check wash water quality and drain it out and bring in fresh water during wash cycle. The other possibility is the flapper valve (item 328) is not working properly. This valve is supposed to separate the drain and wash sides of the dishwasher.

First thing to do is buy a dishwasher cleaning kit (Finish brand if you can) from the supermarket and run empty dishwasher with it according to instructions on the kit. Use the hottest cycle available.

If this does not affect the quality of wash, then start checking the parts I mention above.

Hope this helps.

Dishwasher does not drain completely. Then when left fills with water by a slow drip and leaks onto the floor through the front door seal.

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

After wash there is still dishwashing powder left and it is caked together

The most likely cause of this is cold water inside your dishwasher. The heating element may be burned out, but in any case you always want to run your faucet untill the water is coming out hot. Then immediately start your dishwasher. Try doing this because it will help clean your dishes even if your element is bad.

Ge profile dishwasher electronic controls

try running an extension cord and plugging into a different outlet and see if anything changes, if it still doesn't do anything, jot down model # etc. from label, should be an 800 # to call for tech support, or an email, could be a place to start
